    The Opportunity

    The powertrain project leader role is the prime interface to the vehicle line programme team, working for the Programme Leader. Responsible for achieving powertrain deliverables for specific projects across one or more vehicle platforms. They ensure content is aligned and compatible at a COC level with project requirements for quality, cost & time.

    What you'll do

  • Manage the team in the planning, co-ordination, delivery and reporting of requirements to support the specific Project using Product Development System principles in conjunction with other company processes as required.
  • Ensure all project deliverables and requirements are monitored, delivered and reported accurately and on time at each gateway and organise & lead appropriate interim review events.
  • Manage conflict and issue resolution internal to the Centre of Competence and cross function.
  • Monitor Powertrain performance and lead / facilitate or escalate cross module / cross CoC problem resolution on all project aspects of content delivery, including technical compatibility, virtual build, physical build and launch support.
  • Represent Powertrain in external communication and status reporting, providing a coherent status for the CoC into the VPD.
  • Lead and manage input to weekly Programme Steering Team and Vehicle Integration Team meetings and drive the team in the use of tools and processes to manage the completion of deliverables for programme unit gateways.
  • Work closely with other CoCs, Product Strategy, Advanced Product Creation and Marketing to ensure the project delivers the expected prescribed product actions in a robust manner.
  • Input to the resolution of AIMs issues and closure.
  • Track and support engineering parts releases to enable prototype and production builds to be delivered on time.
  • Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested from time to time.
  • What you'll need

    Essential:

  • Good knowledge of powertrain systems and areas and experience of the automotive industry
  • Knowledge of product development processes and PCDS principles.
  • Experience of metric and reporting delivery to support project delivery.
  • Good understanding of project management principles, meeting demanding timescales and budget control and target management.
  • Ability to interface and communicate at all levels.
  • An interest in process improvement.
  • Desirable:

  • Previous experience of working in a Project Management role with a track record of successful delivery
  • Experience of Powertrain Systems and/or commodity delivery
  • Knowledge of the parts release systems
  • Capability and desire to influence others.
  • Relevant degree or equivalent experience preferred.
