    Our Casino team are predominantly based in Leeds/Yorkshire and therefore we are looking for our next team mate to be within a commutable distance from Leeds to allow for in person collaboration which we anticipate will be 1-2 times a month.

    There will also be quarterly meet ups in our office in Edinburgh.

    The Position - Site Reliability Engineer - Casino

    We're looking for passionate & experienced technologists, strong communicators, and those with a commitment to continuous improvement.

    The ideal candidate will have the confidence to propose pragmatic solutions to complex problems and be eager to learn from and educate others.

    As a Site Reliability Engineer working for our Casino domain, you will work amongst multidisciplinary teams, effectively collaborate with your teammates in tackling complex challenges that provide the very best experiences and products as we build out an exciting and innovative customer experience within the fast paced and growing Casino environment.

    You thrive on technological advancement of the team and always working towards its improvement.


    You independently identify and deliver solutions that form part of a set of milestones spanning infrastructural changes of a multi-component system.

    You are a key contributor in the team goals. You proactively participate in mindful discussions with customers and peers. You bring perspective and provide context for current technology choices and guide future technology choices. You translate ideas into clear code, written to be read as well as executed. You are capable of reading and navigating pipelines and infrastructure-as-code that you didn't author yourself.

    You practise continuous analysis of the existing infrastructure from the reliability perspective, focused on removing performance bottlenecks and optimising the infrastructure, toolkit, and workflows associated with its operation.

    Everyone on our team has a role to play; on a daily basis, you'll be involved in the following:

    Take ownership of tasks assigned to you to optimise the SDLC in Casino.


    Work with your team leaders to direct your focus and to ensure that you are working on the right problems for the wider team's benefit.

    You are experienced in monitoring distributed systems while leveraging industry best practices.

    Look for opportunities to help drive cost saving whilst maintaining service observability and engineering productivity.

    Proactively contribute to your team goals such as error budget plans and automation that significantly reduce toil.


    Actively perform auditing of performance and vulnerabilities, measuring system response time and ensuring high availability and reliability of our services.

    You identify and advocate for improvement.


    Stay vigilant for degradations in services owned by your team by tracking key metrics, and raise a risk or declare an incident when you have concerns.

    Experience in building, managing and deploying containerised micro-services in a distributed infrastructure, AWS preferred.

    Have experience of creating and troubleshooting CI/CD pipelines such as BuildKite and GitHub Actions.

    Advocate for best practices that benefit your local team and the wider organisation.

    Write and speak with clarity and focus. You seek to understand before being understood, listening to others before asking any clarifying questions.

    Adjust your approach based on impact and risk, and share that rationale with relevant stakeholders.

    Drive discussions with your manager about aspirational goals and seek out opportunities to learn and grow.

    What we're looking for in our next team mate:

    Familiar with monitoring technologies for application observability, Datadog preferred.

    Ability to build and maintain a system and culture that supports and implements SLOs.

    Familiar with AWS - everything from IAM, Lambda, Cloudfront, RDS and Dynamo.

    Experience with Docker, Terraform, Kubernetes and Helm.

    Code in one or more programming languages, such as Python, Node.
    JS or Java.

    Familiar with CI/CD pipelines such as BuildKite, Artifactory, GitHub Actions or others.

    Familiar with Git and GitHub.

    Knowing how an app should be designed and built for the cloud.

    Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive.

    Familiarity working in an agile environment.

    Maintain relationships with other disciplines and stakeholders.
