    Join an international team of architects, engineers and scientists that will reshape the ability of the UK Met Office to predict weather up to 6-weeks in advance, while also being able to accurately define weather conditions within a 3 meter space, anywhere within the UK.

    Our managed services team provide real-time monitoring, service design and DevOps services to this exciting UK Met Office 10-year programme.

    You will have the opportunity to work directly with public and privately available core Azure services, 3rd party providers (HPE/Cray and others) as well as with Microsoft Product Group to define unreleased services that are being created specifically for this programme.

    A typical day covers monitoring dashboards, triaging and co-ordinating real-time event and incident responses, managing identity and endpoint devices, working on IaC build deployments and contributing to security design architectures. This is a programme that will re-define the supercomputing model and position the UK as a world leader in weather forecasting.

    What will the project involve?

    Supercomputing services hosted within Azure

    Location & other requirements:

    • Team – So required to work Shift based work that includes Nights and weekends (Night shifts are approximately 25% of the time)
    • few weeks/months 9am – 5pm (Mon – Fri)
    • may look like (not confirmed): 7.30am – 4pm, 3.30pm – 00.00am, 11.30pm – 08:00am
    • Sun to Thu, Tue to Sat or Fri to Tue
    • Clearance – ideally someone already have a valid UK SC clearance, otherwise someone who is SC Eligible (Minimum 5 years Resident in the UK)
    • from Home – Occasional Client Site Visit in Exeter (Candidates who are commutable distance to Exeter or willing to relocate are preferred)

    Key points:

    • an Azure Support/administration Role with some DevOps work
    • a L2 position (However you should expect a combination of L1, L2, L3, DevOps related work)
    • Management, Event Management, Service Request Management, Change Requests, DevOps etc
    • Azure Administration & support experience (Must have), Monitoring, Pro-active Alert-trend identification, Intune, Usr/Device Management, and DevOps backlog work
    • ServiceNow, ICM, Planner, Log Analytics, LogicMonitor, Grafana
    • Azure Support & Administration experience and also previous Service Desk related experience (Working on strict SLAs)

    In this Senior Cloud Engineer role, you will debug and diagnose platform issues for individual customer services running on Microsoft Azure Cloud Platform. You will also diagnose platform faults resulting in service disruption for customer services deployed on the company's cloud platform. Please note, this position requires a 24x7 on-call customer operations by engineers with specific knowledge about customer workloads including application, solution architecture and customer processes, etc.

    In your first few weeks in this Senior Cloud Engineer role, you can expect to:

    • ownership of incident tracking, triage, mitigation, and resolution
    • process changes designed to improve efficiency
    • with peers within the organisation to improve tools, processes and customer support
    • responsible for achieving agreed SLA / OLA / KPI targets

    • Experience in Azure using Azure
    • Technologies (Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Monitoring Agents, Kusto Query Language, ARM template, Azure Policies, IaC and deployment models

    • Server support experience - experience managing, troubleshooting and problem-solving
