    Education Access Coordinator - Countywide

    Fixed Term, Full Time

    Up to £32,545 per annum

    Location: Countywide

    Please note that this is a fixed term contract opportunity for a period of 24 months.

    Essex County Council (ECC) is responsible for ensuring that children and young people at risk of missing out on education are supported in being able to access suitable alternative, high quality education provision.

    We are seeking a flexible individual to work with providers, schools, families, and other key stakeholders and settings to improve access to education for children who are receiving an alternative education commissioned by the Local Authority. This role with have a specific focus around attendance in line with ECC's vision of increasing educational achievement.

    This role is suitable for an experienced practitioner who is confident working within the education environment and who can work with multiple partners to support children who are currently unwilling or unable to attend school.

    Role Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for working strategically across Essex with a specific focus on monitoring and reviewing the attendance of children accessing alternative education.
  • Responsible for working with the wider team to support with the commissioning and monitoring of all pupils in receipt of alternative education.
  • Responsible for working with the wider team to monitor alternative education funded provision to ensure such provision is effective and value for money
  • The job role requires the postholder to be mobile throughout an operational area and access to a vehicle will be required
  • Specific individual and shared targets and objectives are defined annually within the performance management framework.
  • Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

  • Educated to RQF Leve 3 (A Level) or equivalent by experience.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development and expert knowledge in relevant professional area.
  • Experience of working in the educational field and with relevant experience particularly around school attendance and alternative provision.
  • Experience of making decisions and using initiative to ensure positive outcomes for young people.
  • Experience of organising and prioritising own workloads with no supervision.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to engage with and deal with families and young people who are often facing complex and distressing circumstances.
  • Ability to engage with and deal with multiple education providers, including schools
  • Good knowledge of DfE guidance around exclusions, attendance and alternative provision.
  • Please note that the job role requires you to be mobile throughout an operational area. Therefore, the post holder will need to have a driving licence and access to a vehicle, or the ability to meet the mobility requirements of the role through other means.
