Are you keen on joining an innovative, collaborative multinational team and help form the UK part of the Metrology Centre of Competence, providing central governance of the Measurement Management System?


Airbus Broughton is hoping to identify a Metrology specialist, who has considerable experience in metrology and is capable of providing support to the operational teams in all Airbus plants and final assembly lines (FAL).

This job is based in Broughton, and the operational support is to be provided predominantly in the UK.

However, if support on specific measurement domains is required in other plants and FALs, travel may be required accordingly so there is great scope to build your network and complete a small amount of travel with this role.


HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE TEAM

  • Support Plant & FAL metrology teams in the deployment of the Measurement Management System
  • Provide operational support for plant & FAL metrology teams:
  • During deployment of local or global improvement projects linked to metrology
  • By assisting in the troubleshooting of issues related to measurement systems
  • By assisting in the choice or definition of calibration methods to be used by internal or external laboratories
  • In defining corrective actions following audit findings or metrology nonconformance
  • By coaching personnel recently enrolled in Plant & FAL metrology teams
  • Support procurement as a technical specialist during surveillance or qualification audits of service providers for calibration services
  • Perform operational surveillance of metrology activities, providing constructive feedback and assisting in the definition of improvement actions
  • Contribute to the global improvement of the Measurement Management System
  • Participate in metrology and measurement system benchmarking and contribute to technology watch in the measurement domains corresponding to his or her specialty

ABOUT YOU

  • Educated to degree level (or to technical diploma level and having equivalent professional experience) in Metrology and Measurement Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or Industrial Engineering
  • Good knowledge of international standards related to Measurement Management Systems (ISO and Calibration Laboratories (ISO17025)
  • Technical expertise in measurement systems for dimensional and torque measurement. Expertise in additional measurement domains
  • Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA)
  • Experience in solving complex problems (PPS, Ishikawa, 5 Whys, 8D/9S, etc.)
