    Description

    Binnies is recruiting a Technical Manager for Environmental Consultancy (EC). The role comprises:

    • Leading and being accountable for the coordination and resourcing of specialist Technical Services to deliver the
      EC portfolio of work.
    • Providing bid management, technical bid and client engagement support for EC opportunities.
    • Coordinate with Binnies technical communities of practice to focus service development and innovation to meet current and future client needs.
    • Collaborate with industry associations, research institutions, and other relevant organizations to stay informed of the latest technological advancements and emerging trends in the field of environmental consultancy and impact assessment.

    This is a national role, reporting to the Environment Director for Consultancy Services and working closely with the Environmental Delivery Director and Environmental Consultancy PMO.

    The ability to travel to Client offices and project sites is essential.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Has a lead role in the technical coordination of Environmental Consultancy projects.
    • Oversees a technical teams of environmental services specialists in the production of concise, focused reports for a range of clients
    • Ensures that reports meet client requirements and are delivered on time and within budget
    • Provides technical guidance to the team, ensuring that they are up-to-date on the latest industry trends, regulations, and best practices
    • Coordinates with EC Project Managers and Client representatives to fully understand client and project needs, provide updates on project progress, and address any technical concerns or issues that arise

    Project Delivery Responsibilities

    • Independently provides technical leadership and shares knowledge and application of technical and quality management processes;
    • Coordinates multi-disciplinary and specialist teams to deliver projects with a range of complexity in the fields of impact assessment, nature-based solution development, habitat creation and landscape-scale enhancement.

    Client Focused Technical Leadership

    • Responsible for determining key client interests and drivers on high complex projects and determine the key clients in specific business lines.
    • Is seen by Clients as a key technical advisor and authority in the delivery of EC projects.
    • Understands and communicates industry and technical trends to the wider Binnies and RSK Group business.
    • Proactively offers other technical services to the clients to meet their specific challenges and requirements.
    • Proactively contributes and supports business development, strategy and pursuit activities for EC.
    • Develops and maintains regular customer contacts to understand how the technical services EC offers and is able to develop can meet client needs and challenges.

    Commercial Acumen

    • Proactively manages allocated overhead budget assigned to client engagement and bid management tasks.
    • Awareness of contract management principles and able to demonstrate proactive change management through task coordination and project delivery
    • Knowledge of programme management using Microsoft Project or equivalent software

    Strives for Continuous Improvement in Project Execution

    • Consistently and independently applies specialist knowledge and complies with Binnies quality program relative to assigned tasks.
    • Responsible for ensuring technical compliance with Binnies quality program.
    • Consistently provides guidance and direction to others from their project team.
    • Supports and actively encourages continuous improvement and change management efforts.
    • Assists with development of quality systems and procedures within consultancy.
    • Provides quality management guidance and assistance to project managers and wider team and promotes a culture that is conducive to quality.

    Effective Management and Pastoral Care

    • Undertakes a mentoring role for technical environmental professionals.

    Proactive Resource Management

    • Required to highlight resource gaps and proactively engage in across P&L liaison and technical recruitment requirements.

    Proactive and Positive Leadership

    • Is a Behavioural Champion and is recognised by their team as a positive role model for all aspects of their role.
    • Is a key technical leader within the consultancy group, coordinating a range of multidiscipline project teams.
    • Specialist in leading and directing others and effective delegation.
    • Actively uses these skills to build trust and integrity in wider delivery teams.

    Attributes & Experience

    • Master's degree in Environmental or Natural Sciences preferred, specialized training, or experience, that makes the individual qualified to perform the job responsibilities.
    • Holds an Industry recognized professional chartered qualification.
    • Experience in providing technical coordination of multi-disciplinary teams across the full project development cycle (strategy, appraisal, feasibility, consenting & delivery)
    • Experience in integrating digital tools or solutions to improve project quality and efficiency
