The core role of the Sexual Health Outreach Worker is to provide specialist social support and outreach work in relation to the health and prevention agenda, which is both external and internal to the Directorate of Sexual and Reproductive Health.


The post holder will work autonomously to safely promote, engage and enable vulnerable adults and young people to access local sexual health services independently.

The post holder will plan and deliver structured education to vulnerable young people in a variety of settings relating to
sexual health.


The post holder will work as part of the Outreach Team and ensuring safe and effective care is provided to all patients both accessing the service, and externally, in partnership with a variety of non-healthcare settings, and support, where required, awareness training, whilst working in close collaboration with internal partners and external agencies.

Essential to the role is the ability to develop relationships with partnership organisations involved in the care and support of both adults and young people and those with identified vulnerabilities and to be able to engage and effectively communicating with vulnerable and hard to reach young
people.

You will be working with predominantly young people and vulnerable adults in a variety of settings.


Our purpose is to offer support through the delivery of interventions relating to forming safer relationships, improve uptake of contraception and prevention of sexually transmitted infections by improving self-esteem, in order to empower our client groups to make healthy sexual relationships.

We also provide support following sexual assault.


As the applicant, you should have extensive knowledge of safeguarding and safeguarding procedures, be able to recognise vulnerability and act accordingly to ensure that patients are safe.


You will have enhanced knowledge and/or experience of working with clients who are known within drug and alcohol, domestic violence, youth offending and CSE arenas.

You will have excellent communication skills, be able to engage young people and be their advocate when required.


You will work collaboratively with other agencies and will be required to deliver education to large and small groups face to face within the classroom environment and in a virtual environment.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
