    Compliance Officer | Premium Homeware Retail Brand

    Up to £40,000 + Benefits

    Stockport | Hybrid 1 day in office | or when needed so can be more remote if you wish

    This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a Premium Retail brand that has Compliance and Data Protection Officer. Reporting into the CFO and the CEO, you will play a really crucial part in looking after the business and ensure all areas such as their core Products, Sales, Marketing, Ecommerce, Human Resources are compliant to UK Law and local laws where the products are sold.

    This is a varied role and requires an experienced Compliance Manager with great eye to detail, a natural investigator. Able to look at opportunity for improvements and a natural 'go find it' attitude.

    What will you be responsible for;

    • To identify all laws related to Products and Business Processes, interpret those laws, define the risk to the business (i.e. fines etc)
    • Identify those in the business who are responsible to enact those laws.
    • Train those responsible within the business and check that the actions required, have been completed with evidence provided where necessary.
    • In the event of noncompliance, escalate the matter up the chain of command until action has been achieved and the noncompliance remedied

    Key ares of responsibilities;

    • For all ares Data Protection / GDPR/ PECR & below areas
    • Business Governance & Financial compliance I.e. Governance, Accounts/Tax
    • HR: Health & Safety, Employee compliance
    • Retail: Sales Compliance
    • Product claims for faulty goods, H&S within retail shops.
    • Marketing: Product claims compliance, cookie control, preventing marketing activity when consent has been denied.
    • Ecommerce: Product claims, Modern Slavery statement,
    • Product: Compliance to product safety, textile labelling &, fibre content regulations, OEKO-TEX certification.

    Tools

    • Legal Compliance Tool (Administer and allocate owners and approvers).
    • Government legal websites (Review all laws applicable to WUK creating awareness training as required specifically the ICO Data Protection edicts).
    • Audits: chase corrective actions from audit reports.
    • SOP Website - Which includes administer and maintain it.
    • SEDEX platforms.
    • Review factory social audit compliance to SMETA standard.

    Data Protection specific

    • Act as the DPO named on ICO registration.
    • Manage the DPCO email and one drive shared archives.
    • Training new starters, Training log, Data flow maps, ROPA, Cookie control and logs, Rights Request logs and response, Data Privacy Statements, Contracts with Data processors including IDTAs.

    Standard Operating Procedures

    • Maintain and administer SOPs for all departments uploading to the SOP website, turning legal requirements into written and authorised procedures.

    Experience required:

    • Minimum 5 years compliance experience
    • Retail experience - not essential
    • DPO experience
    • Organised with excellent time management
    • Excellent communication skills
