    Join Close Brothers CFCI Management Team where you will be responsible for ensuring the effective management of all credit related risks within CFCI, the adherence to all credit principles, strategies and policies and the quality of business underwritten (both directly and indirectly by those in the CFCI with an underwriting mandate) to maintain lending book quality and minimise bad debt risk.

    CFCI is a subsidiary of Close Brothers Limited with a focus on helping the people and businesses of the Channel Islands thrive over the long term. It consists of 23 employees located in two sites across the Channel Islands, Jersey and Guernsey.

    It generates c.£40m of new business per year from a customer base of c8,000 borrowers.

    The role holder will be a member of the CFCI Management and as such, play an active role in delivering the strategic objectives of CFCI.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Credit Risk Management

    • Responsibility and ownership of all credit risk activities within CFCI, in liaison with the Credit Risk function to maximise the effectiveness of credit risk management within CFCI.
    • Responsibility for the maintenance and effective implementation of all credit principles, strategies and policies within CFCI including regular reviews to ensure the these align to those of Close Brothers Group, making suitable recommendations with a supporting business case, where change is proposed.
    • Responsibility for the effective implementation and ongoing adherence to any lending or credit risk related regulation/legislation impacting CFCI.
    • Engage with Credit Risk colleagues in the UK (including Motor, Retail and Asset Finance) to remain updated with all credit related initiatives, assessing if and how, these can be implemented in CFCI.
    • Responsibility for the assessment, interpretation and analyse of all credit related management information including the proactive monitoring of all CFCI Credit Risk Appetite Statement (CRAS) metrics.

    Underwriting

    • Responsibility for maintaining the highest quality of loan underwriting within CFCI, ensuring that all staff with an underwriting mandate analyse proposals giving due regard to all relevant credit risk issues and the credit principles, strategies and policies of CFCI.
    • Overall responsibility for the efficient processing of all CFCI lending proposals submitted for underwriting in a timely manner, including proactive management of the underwriting resource, ensuring adequate coverage exists to meet the needs of the business at all times

    General

    • As a member of the management team, to make a positive contribution at all times to the ethos and culture of the CFCI business, setting a professional example to all colleagues and assisting in efforts to drive the business forwards to continued success.
    • To engage with and undertake, ad-hoc project work which may be required from time to time utilising relevant skills and experience

    WE WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU IF YOU HAVE/ARE:

    • A proven track record of credit risk management in a control or risk management function.
    • Possessing strong commercial acumen, along with propositional analysis and stakeholder management.
    • Ability to influence, lead and nurture a team.
    • Capability to coach and mentor staff.
    • Excellent communication skills.
    • Ability to review and assess lending propositions including supporting information.
    • Ability to write detailed, structured reports and make appropriate recommendations.
    • Ability to drive performance improvement.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and able to work with a wide variety of stakeholders.
    • Demonstrable experience of adding value within a lending environment.
    • Proficient in Microsoft packages.

    IT IS NOT ESSENTIAL BUT IT WOULD BE GREAT IF YOU HAVE/ARE:

    • Experience of working within a regulated lending environment
    • Proven track record in a management position in an underwriting and/or credit risk environment.
