    Infrastructure Architect

    Role Summary

    We are looking for an experienced Infrastructure Architect to join the team in Technology, Strategy and Architecture (TSA).

    This is a fantastic opportunity to shape the current and future technical landscape of the Bank, where you will work as part of a small team to help deliver an ambitious change agenda.

    The role holder will work within the existing team and will be responsible for:

    Providing infrastructure design work on current and planned change projects. These may be technology or business led projects

    Helping develop the strategic view of the Bank's IT estate and its evolution.

    Knowledge of a wide range of infrastructure components hosted in multiple data centres is essential, As is experience of cloud migrations particularly to Azure.

    This role will report into the Bank's Principal Architects, who have overall responsibility for solution design and strategic artefacts.

    Job description

    · As Infrastructure Architect the role responsibilities will be to:

    · Lead the Infrastructure design and architecture for complex projects, from concept to execution.

    · Identify end-to-end solutions that align with industry standards & best practice, and in accordance with regulatory requirements.

    · Understand business imperatives to ensure technical solutions meet requirements for performance, scalability, resilience, reliability and security, whilst remaining aligned to the business and technology strategies.

    · Participate in the strategic governance of projects and programmes; including where necessary challenging decisions that compromise the architecture vision, provide clear advice and decisions to both colleagues and stakeholders.

    · Providing technical leadership and guidance to the wider technology and project teams, ensuring adherence to architectural principles, standards, and best practices across the full delivery lifecycle.

    · Represent TSA within the Bank in terms of communicating architecture decisions & developments.

    · Develop comprehensive architecture blueprints & roadmaps covering the Bank's evolving technology landscape with a focus on re-use, rationalisation, simplification and enabling migration (where possible) to Cloud solutions.

    · Work with solution and domain architects to maintain technology roadmaps that align to the enterprise architecture principles, vision, and strategy.

    · Support the Head of Enterprise Architecture in clearly promoting the vision, goals, and strategy of enterprise architecture outside of the architectural community in non-technical terms.

    · Staying abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends; recommending adoption of new technologies where appropriate.

    · Apply Enterprise Architecture techniques and use modelling tools (e.g. Sparx, iServer) to advance and articulate business and technology strategies.

    · Support the development and future planning of the enterprise architecture of the Bank. You will be part of a team that drives and builds our Architecture practice by providing leadership to a large multi-disciplinary organisation.

    Essential Skills and Experience:

    · Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field

    · Minimum of 5 years' experience in a solution architect role(s) in large scale, complex technology programmes and strategic initiatives in the Banking or Financial Services industry

    · Strong experience of producing architectural blueprints and solution design documentation spanning all the layers of our infrastructure stack (including EMC, Cisco, VMware, Windows, Linux, MS SQL & Oracle).

    · Cloud Architecture experience (particularly Azure)

    · In depth experience of security best practices and compliance standards both on premise and in cloud environments.

    · Expertise in the application of architectural thinking, evaluating design options, recognising architectural significance and developing abstracted views of processes, business systems and/or functions

    · Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders

    · Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and a focus on delivery high-quality solutions.

    · Experience of working within both Waterfall and Agile delivery environments.

    · Experience of designing solutions for cloud environments and/or migrating existing solutions to cloud.

    · Experience of working in a Large Enterprise or FTSE 100 organisation or significant public sector organisations.

    Qualifications

    CITP or CEng or equivalent rounded IT experience

    TOGAF or equivalent related business technology architect qualification

    Membership of relevant architecture / IT professional associations (e.g., BCS, IASA)
