Aviagen is the world's leading poultry science company, developing pedigree lines for the production of broiler chickens and turkeys. The UK business is located near Edinburgh with several wholly owned operations and joint ventures worldwide.


Based at Newbridge, Edinburgh, we have a vacancy for a GP Production Manager or a promising individual to develop in a Trainee Production Manager role.

You will report to a Senior Production Manager.


Job requirements;

  • Full driving licence.
  • A thorough knowledge and understanding of poultry husbandry and biosecurity, established through experience of working closely with livestock.
  • Regular site visits to monitor and manage agreed protocols.
  • Analyse key performance indicators and provide constructive input to ensure that the GP programme targets are achieved.
  • Ensure company policies are consistently applied.
  • Liaison with other team members and colleagues in other departments is required on a daily basis.

This busy role will require the following skills and experience;

  • Equally important are your people management skills and your ability to motivate and develop the teams you are working with.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills.
  • Organised and dedicated with a positive attitude.
  • MS Excel proficiency.
  • Ideally you will possess a Degree level qualification in Agriculture / Animal Science.
  • In addition to being able to work as part of a team, you will also have proven planning, presentation and communication skills as well as the ability to diagnose and solve problems and work on your own initiative.
