The Clinical Health Psychology Department at Alder Hey Children's Hospital are looking to recruit to several Children and Young People Wellbeing Practitioner (CYWP) posts to support the work of qualified Clinical Psychologists within a range of paediatric medical teams.

Supporting clinical work including liaison, consultation, and low intensity brief assessment and intervention work will all form key aspects of the post.


The post holder will work as part of a CHP team and will work to engage children, young people and families in the therapeutic process, supporting the implementation, under the supervision of an experienced CHP clinician, of mental health interventions.


The post holder will be expected to liaise with external agencies including health, education, social care and the voluntary sector and act as a named key worker to children, young people and families accessing CHP.


Under supervision the post holder will carry out effective and evaluated assessments in line with their own knowledge base and the Trust's policies and procedures.

The post holder will also be responsible for enabling effective and meaningful service user participation in the design and delivery of our services through individual and group engagement, facilitation of events/focus groups, supporting the wider participation agenda and that of Alder Hey Children's NHS Foundation Trust.

The post holder will have the ability to self-reflect and be aware to work within their job remit.

They will also attend team meetings, regular supervision and will be willing to joint work cases with all members of the multidisciplinary team.

The post holder will be expected to undertake on-going
personal and professional development and actively participate in the Trust's PDR processes.

As part of the Community and Mental Health Division, Clinical Health Psychology Department is a hospital-based service providing psychological support to patients and their families experiencing difficulties in relation to acute trauma, chronic health conditions and/or its treatment.

We work closely with our multi-disciplinary colleagues and in close partnership with other parts of the NHS, local authorities, other agencies, voluntary organisations, carers and users of our services.

We have strong links with Liverpool University and the Clinical Psychology doctoral training courses within the region.
