The Directorate of Nursing - Patient Experience Team is looking to recruit to a new and exciting post of PCREF Project Lead - Band 8a.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and dedicated individual to join our well established team.

The post holder will work flexibly alongside, and under the direction of the Associate Director or Nursing/Patient Experience you will have the responsibility for leading PCREF within NELFT as we are excited to be one of the early adopters.


  • To support and lead on the PCREF project, to develop and deliver against project plans, identifying key milestones and using Improvement Methodology to track each Plan-DoStudy-Act cycle to measure improvements and to demonstrate a positive change.
  • This project will include complex multidimensional projects strands that will have wide reaching impact across the organisation.
  • Leading and coordinating input from senior managers and clinical service leads to deliver and define business improvements, taking accountability for project success.
  • The post holder will support the delivery of projects, management of changing demands, processes and maintain appropriate and comprehensive records of project progress.
  • To engage with and work within the project management systems including maintaining a progress/risk log and record relevant issues relating to projects.
  • To ensure the project is taking due consideration of relevant issues in the broader health care economy.
  • To support project teams to ensure projects are delivered to plan and on time continuously analysing and assessing the overall delivery of project aims and providing adequate and timely resolution in failures to meet project targets.
  • To be responsible for supporting projects to ensure a project structure which meets project management principles, governance requirements, including financial management and the delivery of the project work.
Probationary Period

Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust.

All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment.

As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focussing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes.

The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

High Cost Area Supplement - Outer London (B&D, Redbridge, Havering and Waltham Forest)


This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £4,313 to a maximum of £5,436).

COVID-19 Vaccination

The post holder will work closely with the Chief Nurse, Director of Nursing and the national PCREF team at NHS England.

The post holder will lead on PCREF and ensure that project plans are developed, identifying key milestones whilst using improvement methodology to track each Plan-Do-Study-Act cycle to measure improvements.


The post holder will be working under pressure, delivering on complex multi-dimensional project strands that have a wide reaching impact across the organisation.

The post holder will also be responsible for maintaining key relationships with the PCREF team at NHS England and ensuring all key target are met.
