    About XOCEAN

    XOCEAN is an ocean data company – we collect data for clients ranging from mapping the seabed to monitoring the environment. However, we do this differently, instead of using conventional crewed survey ships, we have developed a marine robotic system known as an Uncrewed Surface Vessel (USV).

    Overview

    Seeking a CAD Technician to join the Mechanical Design and R&D Team and support the team with creation of 3D & 2D CAD designs & development of engineering documentation to enhance our current fleet of USVs & design new USVs with increased capabilities.

    Main Duties & Responsibilities

    Responsibilities will include:

    • Creation of 3D parts/assemblies and 2D drawings using Autodesk Fusion 360
    • Management and organization of CAD files
    • Management of 3d printing orders in Rathcor
    • Support the design of USV components & assemblies, integration with 3rd party systems, design of future vessels, capability and performance improvements
    • Support the development of mechanical design documentation: e.g. calculations, schematics, DFMEAs, work instructions & Standard Operating Procedures to support USV production and maintenance activities
    • Creation of Bills of Materials, entering into inventory management systems, stock checks & kit building
    • Maintain effective document control for all engineering documentation
    • Presentation & communication of analysis and designs to team
    • Support Engineering Change Management processes
    • Liaise with teams from Design, Production, Maintenance & Technical Support

    Essential Skills / Attributes and Experience

    • 3 years mechanical design experience using CAD software (Fusion 360, Solidworks or similar)
    • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office
    • Ability to work on-site in Rathcor, Co. Louth
    • Ability to work on own initiative
    • Ability to multi-task
    • Practical approach to work with an emphasis on simplicity of design and operation
    • Excellent organisational and communication skills
    • Enthusiastic, positive and proactive nature with a keen attention to detail

    Desirable

    • Engineering qualification
    • Hands-on mechanical experience
    • Experience using Netsuite/ similar inventory management system
    • Marine experience (e.g. sailing) advantageous
