Description
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 42 months in the first instance.

Applications are invited for an Ernest Oppenheimer Studentship to be held at Cambridge University in Colloid Science, as broadly interpreted within the fields of biology, chemistry, physics, materials science and engineering.

The Studentship is to support research projects directly leading to a PhD.

(a) A brief description of the proposed research project, noting its relevance to colloid science, the starting date and the period of the award sought.

(c) A completed copy of the cover sheet form which accompanies this notice.

The award provides a grant at current EPSRC rates and the University Composition Fee at the Home rate.

Overseas students will be expected to be able to cover the difference between the fees for overseas students and the fees for home students, whether through another award or by other means.

The Studentship also attracts a contribution towards consumables and travel costs of £7k per annum. Special cases for an increase in this figure may be considered at the discretion of the Committee of Management.

The length of the Studentship is 3.5 years; the Studentship is to be taken up on 1 October 2023.

The period of the maintenance grant is 42 months, and the contributions for consumables and for the Composition Fee are 36 months (three years).

For this year, the Committee expects to have one or two Studentships at its disposal. It hopes to make a decision by the middle of February 2023.

The University has a responsibility to ensure that all employees are eligible to live and work in the UK.
