Job Title:
EXAMINATIONS INVIGILATOR


Location:
Sherborne School (or at examination venues within the Sherborne Group, including Sherborne International and Sherborne Preparatory School)


Reporting to:
Examinations Officer, Sherborne School


Salary:
Examinations Invigilator £12.20 per hour.


Lead Examinations Invigilator £12.77 per hour

Reader and/or Scribe £12.56 per hour

Hours of Work:
You will be required to work up to 30 hours per week during November, January, February, May and June. Hours of work are likely to be between 7.45am and 6.00pm Monday to Friday.


Invigilators are expected to commit to these hours during these times in order for the School to meet its compliance requirements.


Duties and Responsibilities:


Examinations Invigilator

  • To assist with setting up examination venues by laying out stationery, IT equipment and examination signage in accordance with strict procedures
  • To instil and maintain examination conditions and minimise distractions in the examination room.
  • To ensure that examinations begin and end on time as scheduled.
  • To be vigilant during the examination, in order to prevent any cheating or malpractice.
  • To report any absences, malpractice or problems to the Examinations Officer
  • To complete general administrative duties as directed by the Examinations Officer
  • To deal with emergency situations e.g., student illness, fire alarm etc. following School protocol
  • To be familiar with and adhere to:
a) the _Instructions for the Conduct of Examinations_ issued by the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ)

b) relevant sections of the Cambridge Handbook issued by Cambridge International Examinations (CIE)

  • To be available to work flexibly in ensuring that examination processes are completed at the end of each examination including dismantling the examination room setup, as directed by the Examinations Officer
  • Any other reasonable duties designated by the Examinations Officer

Lead Examinations Invigilator
All of the above duties / tasks, plus the following:

  • To collect and return examination papers from the Examinations Office To be responsible for the security of and external signage at the examination venue.
  • To coordinate the work of the other invigilators at the examination venue
  • To be the main point of contact with the Examinations Office during examinations
  • To assist other invigilators with rest / toilet breaks and the printing of scripts.
  • To manage the stationery and IT supplies at the exam venue, liaising with the Examinations Office as required
  • To coordinate the evacuation of the examination venue in an emergency

Reader and / or Scribe
All the duties of an Exam Invigilator, plus the following:

  • Ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Some supervisory experience
