Do you have hands-on experience working with vehicles and are you a quick learner when it comes to software?
CAD-IT are seeking an Automotive Technical Author to join a friendly and collaborative team, to develop, write and deliver technical documentation for a well-known automotive OEM.
You will join a business who deliver technical publications for a range of leading automotive, aerospace, rail, industrial, construction and agricultural manufacturing customers.
We are interested in dynamic, engaging individuals with relevant qualifications and/or experience in related vehicle technician, master technician, vehicle engineering, electrical, mechanical, diagnostic, body repair or technical documentation fields.
Person Specification:
- Strong automotive system knowledge and hands on experience is a must. Electric and Hybrid knowledge would be an advantage.
- Good level of IT literacy in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel PowerPoint). XML, HTML experience would be beneficial.
- Experience with CAD and authoring software is desirable. However, training can be provided.
- Ability to deliver quality and consistency in a highly demanding environment.
- Proactive, flexible, and able to work independently.
- Good communication and professionalism to liaise with technicians, engineers, and senior management.
- Ability to solve problems and deliver solutions is essential.
- Technical Authoring competence or experience would be beneficial _
we will provide training on all Technical Authoring software_
Role Details:
Working closely with Aftersales and alongside engineering, the Automotive Technical Author role is focused on one or more of the following workstreams:
- 2D/3D Workshop Manual/Process Instructions
- 3D Electrical Information towards diagnostics
- Text and illustrationbased Service Communications
- 3D Illustrated Parts Catalogues
- 2D/3D eLearning Modules
- 3D Description & Operation
- Owners Literature
- Illustrations Authoring
- Responsible for the creation of technical information to support vehicles in Aftersales.
- Plan, manage and deliver projects against a project plan on time and to a high standard.
- Collaborate with technicians and engineers to gather technical information and author accurate and robust content.
- Use and manipulate CAD for use in technical content.
- Update and maintain technical content to align with engineering changes as well as internal and external feedback.
- Arrange and support physical validations of authored content when required to ensure correct information.
- Follow quality processes and carry out sign off ahead of publish.
