    We are enquiring for "expression of interest" in a fixed-term radiopharmacy production manager (3 months) to work alongside the current radiopharmacy production manager (until their departure) as a hand-over / continuity position.

    Main duties of the job

    Nuclear Medicine is a highly specialised service providing radiopharmaceuticals, diagnostic investigations, radionuclide therapy and bone densitometry services to patients in the South West Wales Area.

    Radiopharmaceutical manufacture is carried out under a Manufacturer's Specials Licence issued by the MHRA. The post holder will be the named Production Manager on the 'Specials' Licence for the Radiopharmacy service.

    The post holder will lead a highly skilled team involved in the preparation of radiopharmaceuticals, and with some limited involvement in non-imaging diagnostic investigations and radionuclide therapy. The post holder will be required to manage the Radiopharmacy Quality System and ensure that the Radiopharmacy operates according to the terms of its 'Specials' Licence and in line with EU Directive 2003/94/EC (the "GMP Directive").

    Nuclear Medicine at Singleton is a friendly and progressive service. The Department is accredited by IPEM for training and has links to Swansea and Cardiff Universities through research and formal academic teaching. Continuing professional development of all staff is encouraged and supported. Full training in Nuclear Medicine will be provided to a suitable candidate.

    Essential criteria

  • B.Sc./Pg.Cert./Pg.Dip./M.Sc. in Nuclear Medicine Technology or Clinical Pharmaceutical Science or B.Pharm./M.Pharm. in Pharmacy or equivalent
  • Registered Clinical Technologist with RCT or Registered Healthcare Science Practitioner with AHCS or Registered Clinical (Pharmaceutical) Scientist with HCPC or Registered Pharmacist with GPhC
  • Desirable criteria

  • NVQ Management Qualification
  • A-Level Maths and Physics
  • Any qualification in Information Technology
  • PTQA Qualification
  • Experience

    Essential criteria

  • Minimum of 4 years experience in (i)radiopharmaceutical manufacturing (ii)working in a licensed aseptic manufacturing facility (iii)compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) (iv)working within a formal Quality Management System and developing standard operating procedures
  • Experience in safe handling, storage, accumulation, transport and disposal of radioactive materials
  • Experience in training and supervision of team members in manufacturing practices

  • Understanding of guidelines and legislation relevant to delivery of a radiopharmaceutical service
  • Knowledge of EU GMP and validation

  • Ability to perform quality testing on prepared radiopharmaceuticals
  • Ability to write standard operating procedures within a quality system
  • Excellent report writing skills
  • Teaching and training in Radiopharmacy
