Job Description & Person

Role Overview:

Working within the council's Cemetery and Crematorium Service, you will lead a highly driven team to ensure funerals are accommodated as requested and cemeteries are maintained to a high specification.

Key Responsibilities:

To lead and manage the Cemetery Operative
Grave Digging team.
To undertake all duties involved in burials.
Carry out the necessary tasks to ensure high quality grounds maintenance.
To be available to meet and assist the public in all the Borough's cemeteries.

Key Requirements:

To succeed in this role, you will need as a minimum:

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required to effectively advise and support the public, with confidence to assist in cemetery queries.
Excellent communication and organisational skills will be needed to work individually and leading a team to ensure a high service delivery for the residents of Oldham.
Previous experience with cemetery work and the use of mechanical plant and tools. The post requires work to be completed in inclement weather and possible unsociable hours (weekends).
