    Howdens is currently seeking Electrical Controls Engineers to join the Engineering Department at our Manufacturing Site located at Howden, East Yorkshire.

    As an Electrical Controls Engineer, this role presents an exciting opportunity to contribute to our ongoing success, support our anticipated growth, and enhance our service to customers as we invest in our future.

    Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, these permanent positions involve providing technical assistance to the Maintenance and Operations teams, focusing on enhancing reliability and automation, and driving continuous improvement initiatives in manufacturing safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency.

    These roles are pivotal within Howdens, necessitating cross-functional collaboration. Hence, the ability to cultivate trusted relationships and make decisions that benefit all parties is critical for success.

    Shift pattern:

    • Week 1 - Wednesday, Thursday, Friday - 6am-6pm
    • Week 2 - Monday, Tuesday - 6am-6pm, Wednesday, Thursday - 6pm-6am
    • Week 3 - Sunday, Monday, Tuesday - 6pm-6am
    • 7 days off

    Responsibilities include:

    • Identifying areas for enhancement and implementing projects to boost equipment reliability and availability through control and automation
    • Driving projects to improve manufacturing availability, product quality, employee safety, and process efficiency
    • Developing expertise in manufacturing processes and sharing with maintenance teams
    • Applying automation skills to drive improvements and sharing with maintenance teams
    • Implementing development opportunities to enhance Safety, Quality, Cost, and Delivery
    • Training maintenance engineering team members in machine control and automation systems

    Requirements:

    • Experienced Electrical Engineer with a focus on Automation/Controls or a minimum of 5 years post-qualification work experience in an FMCG setting
    • HNC in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification
    • Proficiency in fault detection and program modifications across various PLCs & SCADA, Robotics systems
    • Competence in parameterization and commissioning of servo drives and inverters
    • Experience in diagnosing industrial communication networks issues
    • Ability to design and modify control circuits and program logic
    • Execution of change management activities
