My client, a forward thinking and customer focused vehicle management business, is looking for an experienced LGV Technician to join their workshop in Welwyn Garden City.


The main purpose of the role is to undertake service and repair work on all types of vehicles in a safe and economical manner achieving the highest possible standards of workmanship.

To skilfully undertake the repair of vehicles, whilst detecting and diagnosingany additional faults, ensuring that all work is completed safely and to customer's complete satisfaction.


Main responsibilities:

  • To service, adjust and repair all types of vehicles and equipment, components and accessories including removal and refitting in a safe, proper and economical manner using equipment provided.
  • To diagnose faults and test vehicles utilising equipment available and using recognised test procedures and techniques. Including road testing where deemed necessary, driving in a manner within the parameters of the law and road testing, using designatedroutes.
  • To observe, recognise and report on defects and/or symptoms of impending failure and wear as set out in VOSA tester's manuals.
  • To order all necessary replacement parts, ensuring prior authorisation.
  • To ensure all jobrelated documentations are clear and concise.
  • Carry out 'On Site' Inspections.
  • To ensure all time recording of attendance and time on jobs is accurately recorded.
  • If required, to undertake MOT Testing of Class 7, 5, 4 vehicles.
  • To be in possession of a comprehensive and working hand tool kit.
  • To maintain your work area, tools and equipment to a high standard and ensure you understand and comply with all Health and Safety regulations.
  • To keep working area in a clean and safe condition
  • To uphold company and manufacturer quality standards and ensure all work undertaken meets client expectations
  • Continuously keep updated with changes to relevant technical instructions/data and to maintain awareness of legislation relating to all statutory health and safety, COSHH and the Environment.
  • Adequately explains technical diagnosis to nonmechanical individuals.
