Working closely with system partners, the post holder will have the opportunity to lead significant transformational change and recovery of elective, cancer and diagnostic services.


As part of the Operations and Delivery Team, the post holder will work with other members of the team and the wider ICS to optimise opportunities to improve services, reduce inequalities, improve outcomes and deliver holistic personalised care to our patients.


The post holder will require strong leadership and programme management skills, excellent co-ordination skills, experience of service redesign and assurance processes, detailed understanding of healthcare systems and the ability to work effectively, efficiently and collaboratively with a variety of clinical and operational staff, senior leaders and other key stakeholders.


The postholder will be responsible for developing strategies and working with our partners across the system to ensure that effective services are available to the population of Herefordshire, Worcestershire and surrounding areas.

The diagnostic programme has significant regional and national direction and interest.

This role will be required to work closely with regional teams, colleagues from other systems and with the developing diagnostic networks to inform local planning and development.

  • Support the operational commissioning and service development for the ICS, specifically diagnostic services. This will include oversight and development of the diagnostic strategy.
  • Report progress against operational and transformation objectives in relation to ICS diagnostic programme.
  • Build and sustain effective reporting to Regulators with information requests and progress reports submitted on time and to satisfactory standards.
  • Support the development of strong working relationships with multiple teams and organisations across the ICS, to further health and care delivery and improve patient outcomes.
  • Review and evaluate performance and delivery, identifying areas for improvement and transformation by either individual organisations or by place or collaborative arrangement across the ICS system.
  • Use indepth knowledge and experience of operational healthcare management to influence, plan and review provision, to identify improvements and service redesign required.

Key Duties:


  • Contribute towards the implementation of Elective, Cancer & Diagnostics transformation and delivery.
  • In partnership with Placebased emerging structures, ensure that there is a good understanding of national and local requirements and support the development of the associated delivery plans.
  • Promote continuous improvement and innovation in care pathways and delivery of care, incorporating engagement by senior clinicians and operational leads.
  • Contribute towards identifying opportunities for improvement in performance and delivery and to work with senior colleagues to drive these through to achieve the required standards and evidence best use of resource
