You will be stepping into the shoes of a well-oiled Quality Control Department but there is plenty of room to make your mark.


The role is integral to the business because the Quality Control team contributes and links to almost every part of the business.

So having strong stakeholder management skills and a focused team is essential.

Quality Control is a crucial stage in the supply of our products to our customers. The department ensures quality is maintained and improved if necessary.

It is a role that combines visual inspection of goods, at two warehouses, as well as accurate record keeping of AQL garment inspection and supplier colour approvals.


We are currently in an exciting phase; whereby we are working closely with suppliers to transition Banner garments to eco-friendly fabrics.

QC has a pivotal role within this process with regard to fabric and colour approvals, working with both Design and Buying teams.


Your purpose and mission is to co-ordinate the Quality Control Function in Trowbridge office, implementing best practice and developing the Quality Control Team.**- Quality control management

Your management tasks will look like this:

  • To effectively report back to Senior Management.
  • To ensure the department is working efficiently and effectively to meet business needs and manage workload across the team.
  • KPI tracking for Quality control functions.
  • Ensure Quality Controllers have full training and are assisted.
  • Inspecting Banner products on delivery to the warehouse to ensure quality standards are being met.
  • Writing inspection reports.
  • Maintain good working files.
  • Be the leading force behind setting quality standards for all suppliers.
  • Plan and monitor supplier's performance.

Your role specific tasks will look like this:

  • Test incoming garment fabrics for the correct quality as requested on the garment tech pack, including weight, shrinkage, and colour migration.
  • Approvals, returns complaints, ad hoc stock inspections, and AQL reports.
  • Support the design/development department in fitting, identifying, and analysing problems, proposing solutions.
  • Responsible for sending accurate and timely technical comments, ensuring technical information is understood and the required technical standards are maintained throughout the supply chain.
  • Ensure colour consistency is maintained across the ranges over multiple products spanning a period of time.
  • Ensure suppliers are complying to specifications in all areas of the garments, and arrange any further testing where necessary.
  • Monitor and plan workload for departments to ensure an even spread and it is manageable, alongside any updates to the QC processes to maintain efficiency as the department evolves.
  • Keeping the QC Supplier manual up to date and ensuring Suppliers are complying with the standards set and following any other guidelines.

Your leadership tasks will look like this:

  • Support training of team members across departmental areas.
  • Encourage the team to be proactive and to support them during times of heavy workload.
  • Be the main point of contact for any customer issues, liaising with Sales and Customer Service, ensuring progress on issues is monitored and improved on.
  • Discuss resolutions with the suppliers and communicate all steps with the wider business, this can include face to face with customers to give the best service.

The kind of attributes and experience we are looking for is:

  • Ideally, technical knowledge of garments and a history of working with garments.
  • Ability to demonstrate strong stakeholder engagement.
  • Previous team leader/supervisor experience is necessary.
  • Strong business acumen, able to think commercially.
  • An inherent passion for sustainability.
  • Flexibility to complete tasks requested by management efficiently.

hat is the position of the contract?
This is a full-time, permanent role. We work on a 39 hour a week Monday to Friday with no weekend work.
