    Description

    As Assistant Buyer, you are about to become a valuable member of a well-established and expanding brand, based just outside Oxford. Offering a good salary, you will enjoy a mix of office and remote work from Monday to Friday. This company specializes in lifestyle products, such as clothing, homeware, jewelry, and accessories. The role is full-time and permanent, within a team that is known for its friendly, supportive, and collaborative atmosphere dedicated to delivering outstanding results.

    Purpose of the Role:
    Assisting the Senior Homeware Buyer in sourcing and managing a variety of homeware products for two catalogues.

    Key Responsibilities for the Assistant Buyer:

    • Support in sourcing a variety of homeware products while focusing on margin and quality
    • Assist in managing a range of approximately 250 SKUs per season, with around 50% being repeat lines
    • Source new products within domestic textiles, tabletop, and toiletries
    • Communicate with suppliers to optimize efficient ordering and sample management
    • Negotiate cost prices and terms with suppliers based on commercial price points
    • Manage the buying process to ensure all lines are ready for launch and meet the critical path
    • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of trends, competitor activities, and retail prices
    • Accurately log all product information
    • Organize samples for selection, range reviews, and photo shoots
    • Write precise content for catalogues and websites
    • Resolve any customer or warehouse quality queries
    • Liaise with the warehouse to ensure efficiency and quality

    Key Skills Required for the Assistant Buyer:

    • Buying experience in homeware or gifting market
    • Ability to interpret sales analysis
    • Commercial experience in product development and sourcing shelf products
    • Strong negotiation skills
    • Excellent planning and project coordination abilities
    • Organized and accustomed to working to deadlines
    • Confident in communication
    • Effective under pressure, with the ability to multitask
    • Adaptable to changing environments
    • Proficient in IT skills, particularly Excel
    • Capable of taking initiative
    • Own transportation required due to location
