*Doctors Direct* have great opportunity for a *Consultant *of *Old Age Psychiatry* experience, available at sites across *South London*. *Job Summary:

• The Old Age Consultant Psychiatrist is responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating mental health disorders in older adults. This role involves providing expert psychiatric care, devising treatment plans, coordinating with healthcare teams, conducting research, and ensuring the well-being and mental health of older patients. We are seeking those with experience of assessment and safety management of service users within the community, this includes excellent communication skills with a detailed knowledge of safeguarding procedures. You will also have knowledge of interventions, including psychological interventions to support our mothers, babies, and families. Our clinical team includes Psychiatry, psychology, advanced nurse practitioners, operational manager, Nursing, occupational therapy, Nursery Nurse, and Peer support workers. Responsibilities will include:
• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments of older patients to diagnose mental health disorders, including dementia, depression, anxiety, and other related conditions.
• Gather and review medical history, perform physical examinations, and utilize various assessment tools and techniques to arrive at an accurate diagnosis.
• Develop individualized treatment plans based on diagnosis, medical history, and the unique needs of each patient.
• Administer appropriate medication, psychotherapy, and other therapeutic interventions to manage and alleviate symptoms and improve overall mental health.
• Monitor and adjust treatment plans as necessary, ensuring optimal outcomes and the best quality of life for the patients.
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including psychologists, social workers, nurses, and occupational therapists, to provide holistic care and support to older patients.
• Consult with family members and caregivers to educate and involve them in the treatment process, facilitating a supportive environment for the patients. Details about the Role: Specialty: Old age Psychiatry

* *Locations: *Croydon, Lambeth, Lewisham & Southwark (South London areas – you pick which location suits you)
* *Start Date: *ASAP-ongoing, no end date yet
* *Days per week: *Monday-Friday (our client will accept part time consultants 2-3 days per week)
* *Shift Pattern*: 9:00-17:00, including on call occasionally
* *Pay rate*: £100-£125 per hour (depending on experience)

* *Payment method: PAYE *we do NOT facilitate payment through LTD/umbrella companies *The minimum requirements for the role are:

• Valid GMC
• Right to work in the UK
• Clinical attachment complete
• Minimum 3 months paid UK experience
• AC Status essential
• S12 desirable Our client will consider international doctors who do not have paid UK experience in areas' whereby there is high demand, however you MUST meet the following requirements:
• Minimum 10 years international psychiatry experience – essential (this must be detailed in CV)
• Valid GMC
