    Description

    We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Wirral to assist with the appointment of a Housing Standards Manager, on a 3- month contract , highly likely to be extended at clients discretion.

    Monitor and interpret changes in both housing and regeneration policy and legislation to ensure compliance with statutory duties and the application of the most appropriate statutory powers relating to improvements of housing standards and the safeguarding of vulnerable people living in substandard homes.

    To have overall responsibility for leading, motivating, managing and directing the development and delivery of the Housing Standards services, ensuring high quality services are achieved, monitored and reviewed.

    Represent Wirral in a leading role on housing standards issues at a regional and sub regional level on cross authority working and investment opportunities, including where required LCR Officer and Programme Board meetings.

    Appraise opportunities to innovate, develop and implement strategic projects that effectively tackle the biggest challenges associated with improving housing conditions, and making the best use of Wirral's housing stock utilising the resources available and in line with the Councils Housing Strategy

    To be responsible for the effective people management of staff to ensure that staff are supported and continuously developed while also implementing Council policies and procedures relating to e.g., attendance, training, performance, discipline etc.

    Appropriate housing, environmental health, or building qualification.

    Thorough understanding of housing related legislation and local and national regeneration, enforcement and strategic issues involving private sector housing stock.

    Experience of and ability to prepare detailed specifications of work for large projects and leading on tendering procedures for housing regeneration projects.

    Experience of representing the Council at sub-regional, regional or Inter Agency work groups and forums.
    You should be available to work immediately or at a short notice.
