- Performs specialised diagnostic cardiac physiological testing on patients to aid clinical diagnosis without supervision.
- To include but not limited to performing 12 lead ECG, supporting Exercise ECG, fitting and analysing Holter and event recorders to a high standard.
- Can act on clinically significant findings and escalate appropriately.
- Independently interprets results and provides factual reports for specialised diagnostic cardiac investigations
- Communicates effectively and advises both clinical and non-clinical staff regarding outcomes of diagnostic investigations.
- Assists lead physiologist in monitoring and maintaining quality of services within designated section.
- Ensures that individual own level of practice is kept up to date.
- Demonstrates active participation in clinical audit, and R&D activities.
- Has awareness of future implications for development of current Cardiologyservices.
- Works throughout a number of areas recognising all aspects of infection control measures needed for each specific clinical area.
- Works within a multidiscipline environment abiding to strict regulations regarding radiation and protection from radiation.
- Ensures all appropriate Health and Safety measures and Statutory and mandatory Training requirements are maintained.
- 5 GCSE or equivalent at C or above inc maths + English
- ASCST Part 1+2, Certificate in ECG or equivalent
- On AHCS/RCCP register or eligible
- Significant Experience in ECG Inpretation at all levels
- Good IT skills/Microsoft Office/ computer literacy
- Communication skills

A exciting opportunity has arisen at the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust for a Bank Band 5 Cardiac Physiologist (Holter analysis) Cardio-respiratory Department.
The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is the main provider of district general hospital services for nearly half a million people in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and mid Wale and employs almost 6000 people.
Our main service locations are the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford and the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital in Shrewsbury. Together the hospitals have just over 700 beds and assessment & treatment trolleys. Both hospitals provide a wide range of acute hospital services including accident & emergency, outpatients, diagnostics, inpatient medical and critical care.
The Cardio-respiratory Department has a base at both hospital sites with Cardiac Diagnostics based predominantly at the Princess Royal. We provide a diagnostic Coronary angiography service, full range of Cardiac Device implantation and follow up and we are a BSE accredited Echocardiography service. The Cardiorespiratory Department is a Team of 40 members of staff, from admin to Highly Specialised Cardiac and respiratory physiologist which covers (alsmost) 3 sites . We do not have a high turnover of staff with many of the team having worked for the Trust for many years. We strive to always keep up with new technologies, services and welcome any new way to improve and drive our services forward.
