    WORK SETUP:
    4 days onsite/1 remote a week

    My client is at the forefront of pioneering enterprise-grade Active Electronically Steered Array (AESA) antennas for satellite communications on the move, designed to provide seamless connectivity across air, land, and sea, catering to both commercial and military clientele.

    They are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to take a key role in the Mechanical Engineering team.

    You will be providing mechanical design, drawings, and analysis to support the product development and supporting others in the team to deliver designs and process improvement.

    Understand the customer needs to support design decisions and interpret the impact of customer requirements on mechanical specifications.


    • Maintain a good understanding of key customer deliverables, alerting the team to possible risks and opportunities.
    • Produce own mechanical designs to deliver product functional, environmental and EMC requirements.
    • Produce mechanical designs for electronic PCBs, including board profiles, ICDs, flex-circuits, connector alignment and component clearance.
    • Design parts for thermal, structural and aerothermal performance.
    • Capture and process engineering change notices to meet configuration control process requirements.
    • Produce production standard 3D CAD models and drawings (to BS8888) using Solidworks. Review CAD documents from others.
    • Apply mechanical design for manufacture principles for a range of manufacturing methods to own designs and advise others in the team. Perform tolerance analysis to ensure design clearances and fits.
    • Apply understanding of thermal and structural analysis techniques to own designs. Perform basic analysis using hand calculations and with simple analysis tools (in-built CAD tools)
    • Support mechanical and environmental testing (Shock, Vibration, HALT and HASS)
    • Work as part of small teams to deliver mechanical development projects on time and to budget. Support of the wider technical deliverables required for product development, such as test equipment design, lifecycle management, methods development, peer reviews, procurement support and lab testing.
    • Work with the engineering teams across multiple disciplines to integrate technology requirements into the systems, software, electrical and RF design.
    • Take responsibility for own projects and delivery to tight timescales, communicating through plans, presentations and written reports.
    • Lead group projects within the organisation.
    • Manage suppliers to deliver subcontracted designs, manufacturing, assembly, analysis and test (in conjunction with the operations team).
    A good first or Upper 2nd Class degree (BEng/MEng) in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent work-based qualifications.


    • 3+ years in mechanical design for electromechanical products
    • Excellent communications skills and able to take responsibility for projects and delivery to tight timescales.
    • Experience of Configuration Control processes and Product Lifecycle Management
    Product development of RF communications electronics.


    • Experience of mechanical integration of equipment onto customer vehicles (Land, Marine and airborne)
    • Experience of customer liaison and support of customer demonstration/installations
    • Mechanical qualification and certification testing to Land, Marine and Airborne standards
