    A Snapshot of Your Day

    The Group Leader of the Supplier Support Team's (SST) role involves but is not limited to, day to day organisation and task setting and support for:

  • Technical support of the pre-qualification process.
  • Provide supplier support through the qualification process.
  • Providing technical support for general enquiries from Suppliers, Supplier Quality, Procurement and Manufacturing, making engineering judgements regarding components or assemblies that deviate from specification.
  • Helping Supplier Quality investigate supplier non-conformances and introduction of containments and solutions.
  • Report checking, Drawing checking, technical guidance of the SST team.
  • Continuous improvement and development of the SST team and the departmental processes.
  • Flexibility of working is required as per the business needs, supporting a supplier out of normal working hours.

    How You'll Make an Impact

  • Your technical guidance within the pre-qualification process will help Supplier Quality to ensure that a stable and high-quality production process is established.
  • Your technical support and guidance for the team will enable practical solutions to supplier issues hence, ensuring the consistent flow of parts to the assembly line.
  • Your team's modification of drawings enables parts to be manufactured.
  • Your technical decisions will directly affect the flow of new and conforming and non-conforming parts both into and though the factory.
  • You will directly assist in the development and growth of team members and the department.
  • What You Bring

    The successful candidate will approximately fit the following criteria:

    A Mechanical Engineer educated to degree level or equivalent experience.

    Evidence of teamworking.

    Good communications skills including presentations to large groups, and interactions with all levels of business and customers.

    A progressive, pragmatic approach.

    Good understanding of how a core gas turbine works.

    Problem-solving skills including formal techniques (. , Fault Tree, Root cause Analysis, DMAIC, 5 Why, 8D) and practical application. Confident in making decisions based on the results of problem-solving techniques.

    Autonomous in daily working, whilst engaging as part of a team and willing to offer support to others.

    Data analytical and interpretation skills.

    Competent MS Excel user for creation and support of tracking spreadsheets.

    Experience of PLM2020 Teamcenter and NX is desirable.

    Good understanding engineering drawings and technical specifications.

    Capable of performing Mechanical Design calculations.

    Understanding of materials and coatings used within gas turbines is desirable.

    Project management experience is desirable.

    Leadership and managing cross-functional teams.
