RPS are seeking a Water Regulations Officer to support the reduction of leakage and customer consumption through our clients' programme by identifying internal and external leakage, undertaking minor pluming works, water efficiency awareness and product fitting within customers' properties.

The salary for this role is £23-£24k plus benefits, and accommodation will be provided for when travel is required. The role is 40 hours per week and a van, phone, and fuel card are provided.

What you'll be doing


You will be working within the Water Regulation Team, undertaking plumbing repairs and installing water saving products on the customers property that align with the DCWW principles in a safe and competent manner, providing excellent customer service.

It is also your role to deliver behaviour changing education to customers on water efficiency to encourage a reduction in customer demand and drive the efficient use of water within our customer base.


Working as a team member you will be responsible for arriving at solutions and alternatives that enhance the companies measures of success, through water regulations and trench inspections.


This role may involve moving heavy items including manhole covers and working in all weather conditions (this could include night work).

Key responsibilities will include:


  • Supporting stakeholders with investigations such as Water Quality, Legal department etc.
  • Undertaking thorough investigation of premises, with the aim of limiting risks to public health and our network.
  • Preparing reports on any noncompliances and agree with the owner the acceptable plan for correcting all noncompliances, as well as to undertake repeat inspections and to advise the owner when their installations are now compliant.
  • Providing a service to customers (both internal and external) on Water Fitting Regs. Such advice may include an explanation of the WFR, what are the customer's responsibilities under the Water Fitting Regs, and to comment if something contravenes the Water Fitting Regs.
  • Raising, processing and issuing all required documentation for all planned, pending and completed tasks, seminars, meetings and inspections in accordance with company policy. All documents and reports must meet the required standards for quality and accuracy.
  • Recommending and progressing legal proceedings under the Water Fitting Regs where appropriate in accordance with Dŵr Cymru policy and procedures.
  • Preparing written inspection reports to support the team and stakeholders.

Who we're looking for?

  • You'll have a sound understanding of the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations in the context of understanding and prioritisation of scheduling work.
  • A strong customer service ethos with great interpersonal skills and the ability to solve problems
  • Good reporting / report writing ability
  • Knowledge of Microsoft software packages including but not limited to Excel, Word, Access along with SAP packages advantageous.
  • Ability to work to deadlines and achieve targets
  • City and Guilds in Plumbing or NVQ equivalent
  • City and Guilds in Water Regulations for Enforcement Staff or equivalent.
  • Full UK driving licence
