Primary Care 24 has an exciting new senior role within our expanding HR division.


The Head of People will work with the Director of People, Head of OD and Culture and the People Team and will provide senior leadership in ensuring a comprehensive and engaging People Service in the organisation across all functions and areas.

The postholder will role model values-based leadership across the organisation.


They will be responsible for:

  • Provision of an expert human resources/people service to the Executive Team, Senior Management and Line managers ensuring Primary Care 24 becomes a learning organisation and remains an employer of choice.
  • In conjunction with the Head of OD and Culture provide professional leadership, vision and direction for the People team, ensuring that a consistent, high quality and customer focused service is provided.
  • Deputise for the Director of People as and when required, including presenting at Board meetings, committees and external meetings.
  • Responsible for the line management and development of the People Business Partner, Recruitment Lead and administrators within the People Team.
  • Responsible for the interpretation and implementation of national policy and legislation changes.
  • Be an active contributor to the Senior Management Team including participation in the manager oncall rota.
  • Responsible for the provision of efficient, effective and safe HR services, enabling PC24 to deliver safe and effective care to our patients.
  • Responsible for development of the People Strategy action plans and provide assurance on progress, with mitigation plans for any key risks.
  • Responsible for the provision of timely and accurate People KPI's and associated data as required for internal and external reporting.
  • Provide organisational design advice to teams to support transformation and the delivery of the organisational strategic strategy.
  • To oversee the production of relevant workforce plans to ensure capacity, capability and succession plans to support business plans and delivery both now and in the future.
  • Oversee the effective recruitment of employees and associates across the organisation.
  • Work closely with the Head of OD and Culture to ensure identification and delivery of organisational development interventions to ensure organisational effectiveness.

Hours:37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm

About You:


  • Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development.
  • CIPD qualified
  • Educated to degree level, or evidence of CPD at degree level.
  • Commitment to and evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
  • At least 6 years' experience of working at HRM level.
  • Knowledge of contemporary methodologies required for resourcing, talent management and employee wellbeing in a complex organisation.
  • Knowledge and experience of Payroll processes
  • Knowledge and experience of Recruitment process and best practice.
  • Knowledge and experience of producing, interpreting and providing Workforce Data.
  • Experience of workforce planning and reporting.
  • Uptodate knowledge of employment law, employment policy and practice, CIPD codes and recommended 'best practice'.
