    University College London Hospitals is seeking to appoint a locum consultant for 6-8 months to the department of Neuroanaesthesia and Neurocritical care at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery. The post is required to cover planned maternity leave.

    The National Hospital provides tertiary level care in a wide spectrum of neurological and neurosurgical disease with a regional, national and international referral base. The hospital is co-located with the Institute of Neurology in Queen Square, London WC1. Both institutions share the common aim of promoting research and teaching in neuroscience and its allied disciplines.

    This post would be suitable for a candidate interested in a future substantive role in Neuroanaesthesia or Neurocritical Care, but also someone with a CCT in Anaesthesia or ICM looking to expand their experience in this subspeciality.

    Main duties of the job

    The department of Neuroanaesthesia and Neurocritical Care comprises 27 consultants and 39 trainees. This post supports all aspects of anesthesia for neurosurgery and interventional neuroradiology, and sessions on the Neurocritical Care Unit.

    The appointee will have both fixed sessions and work flexibly to cover consultant leave within the department as required. All candidates must be eligible for full GMC registration and either already be on the Specialist Register or be within six months of receiving CCST/ CCT in Anaesthesia at the time of interview. Essential qualifications for this post include FRCA or equivalent.
