We want to be the water company people want to be supplied by and want to work for.
You'll take up this role as a Trainee Assistant to join the Finance team in Waterlink. You'll provide assistance by raising invoices, taking payments, dealing with credits and refunds. You'll monitor and oversee contractor invoices, check claims and help with the processing of associated paperwork.

Previous Customer Service and finance experience would be useful but not essential. This is a role where you can learn and develop. You'll need to be self-motivated, organised with good verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is essential. You'll help ensure customers are billed correctly for the services we provide.

We're a close knit team that will provide plenty of support and encouragement.

After two years you'll have the opportunity to be promoted into the Finance Assistant role which comes with a salary increase.

About Waterlink


Waterlink is a commercial department within South East Water and was developed to assist domestic and commercial customers with issues relating to their private water supply.


At the point where the water Company's responsibilities ends, usually at the property boundary; Waterlink have developed a range of services to ensure essential water supply can be maintained.

The commercial division reflects the services of a water company but tailors them to individual needs.


Together we provide a service to domestic householders, housing associations, government bodies, utilities companies, hospitals, universities and ministry of defence sites across the South East.

What will you mainly be responsible for delivering?

  • To monitor, oversee and record all contractors invoices, time claims and other associated paperwork
  • To competently deal with sensitive card data information and take relevant correct payments and raise required paperwork and invoices on return
  • To abide by data protection laws when dealing with sensitive customer information and SEW systems
  • To raise credits and refunds as required
  • To monitor the Waterlink and finance system, to ensure that Waterlink remains on top of all finance processes
  • To invoice, request purchase orders and deal with the finance element of aerial access requests
  • To match, code and process received sales invoices, ensure suppliers are paid on a timely basis
  • Respond to enquiries and queries in a professional and efficient manner
  • To work as part of the Waterlink team ensuring that all targets and objectives are met by supporting other areas of the department as and when required

What you bring to the role

  • GCSE grades A-C standard or equivalent
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Good knowledge of all Microsoft Excel and Word is essential.
  • Customer Service or Finance Experience would be useful.
