    Key Responsibilities

  • You'll safely carry out repairs and improvements to a variety of built environment infrastructure such as modular paving, kerb installation, bituminous macadam laying, concreting, pipe laying, hard and soft landscaping including drainage repair, excavation and shoring.
  • You'll be aware of and have working knowledge and application of design drawings, specifications and civil engineering techniques.
  • You'll apply safe methods of working through the use of personal protective equipment, correct manual handling, use of small plant and equipment such as excavators, roller/breaker, compaction equipment, dumpers, motorised circular saws and other highways related equipment.
  • You'll apply and abide by Health & Safety at Work Act, Road Traffic Act and apply safe methods of working to all activities.
  • You'll drive a range of vehicles with a gross weight of up to and including 32 tonnes Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) which could also include tractors, tippers, HIAB crane, tail lift, platform, pick ups and transit vans.
  • You'llunderstand and follow procedures relating to Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) regulations.
  • You'll understand and follow procedures relating to Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome regulations (HAVS).
  • You'll carry out instruction from Management and Senior Officers.
  • Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Demonstrate competency in working on minor civil engineering projects in a built and operational environment.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge, understanding and application of all Health & Safety in an operational environment.
  • To have working knowledge and application of Control of Hazardous Substances to Health (COSHH) and Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS).
  • To hold an NVQ Level 2 or above in Construction Operations. Street works accreditation.
  • Hold a current Heavy Goods Licence class 2 or above including Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC).
  • Hold a current mechanical tracked excavator licence +/-10T
