Description

The role of Consultant Paediatrician within Community and Children in Care is a Consultant post working with families and young people with a responsibility for Children in Care and adoption work.

We are keen to attract a proactive and enthusiastic Consultant who will enjoy working within our team.


There is some flexibility in the job plan to enable new colleagues to choose speciality areas of work that will suit their interests.

There is no out of hours on call commitment in this job.


The Consultant will have the responsibility for Children in Care and Adoption work, this would include undertaking initial health assessments for children in care, in a clinic setting.

The role is also that of Medical Advisor fulfilling the duties required of this role. Training and support is available if required.


This role would also provide care for Community Paediatric patients within a locality, covering a range of Community Paediatric conditions.

Applicants should have some clinical experience of general Community paediatric problems including developmental and behavioural problems.

Our team includes Community Paediatricians, General Paediatricians with a special interest, Specialty Doctors and Specialist Nurses.


There are currently 8 Consultant Paediatricians, 2 Specialty Doctors increasing to 4 with recruitment and a specialist Registrar post as well as 5 Specialist nurse.

The team are very well supported by the Administration team.
