    Nu Quantum is on a mission to commercialise research generated over the last decade at the Cavendish Laboratory and to shape the future of quantum information systems.     The Role

    Nu Quantum is seeking an experienced DSP engineer to lead the development of RF pulse generation for quantum control applications. You will be working with a world-class team of scientists and engineers to design and develop a scalable control system capable of multi-node orchestration. You will be joining a small multi-skilled team and will be responsible for all aspects of the project lifecycle from specification, modelling, design, verification and lab bring-up of electronics.

    Responsibilities

    • Take ownership of projects from specification to delivery
    • Liaise with physicists, optics and electronics engineers to drive system specifications
    • Own the DSP roadmap within the company and drive knowledge sharing
    • Perform modelling at the block and system levels and integrate with theoretical models to optimise system fidelity

    Requirements

    Your Skills, Qualifications and Experience

    • Degree-level qualification in electronics, computer science or related subject
    • 6-10 years of experience in ASIC or FPGA implementation roles
    • Knowledge of the full design cycle from specification through to timing sign-off
    • Experience with industry standard digital simulators
    • Experience with DSP components used for wireless communications
    • Knowledge of upsampling and interpolation filters such as FIR/HBF/CIC
    • Knowledge of quadrature modulation techniques and upconversion
    • Experience in modelling DSP components in Matlab and/or Python
    • Experience in fixed point digital implementations and optimising for area/power/performance
    • Experience with high speed DACs
    • Experience with DAC interface protocols such as JESD204B and LVDS
    • Experience with lab test equipment to verify and validate system performance metrics

    Other (Desirable but not required)

    • Experience with Xilinx Zynq, MPSoC or RFSoC devices
    • Experience writing embedded C/Rust
    • Experience with Petalinux and device drivers
    • Knowledge of networking protocols and packet processing
    • Knowledge of PTP, SyncE, White Rabbit
    • Scripting of tool flows using Python and pytest
