You'll join as the Technical Lead in Process Science to contribute your water treatment expertise within our Operations Improvement team.

This will be an initial 12-month fixed term contract / secondment opportunity with potential for it to become a permanent position.


You have an established background in water treatment science with a good understanding of water quality legislation and operational processes.

You'll use your knowledge to understand complex water treatment scenarios and issues.

This role will take the lead on guiding, coaching, and working with stakeholders across the business, influencing and collaborating to encourage participation.

This will facilitate knowledge sharing that drives process improvement and sets out best practice within South East Water.


You'll be responsible for writing and reviewing standard operating procedures for the Production teams and creating new operating manuals for our water treatment sites.

You will also produce training materials to engage and inform key staff across the business about changes to our processes and procedures.

This will ensure that our front-line teams have the information they need to keep our water supply network running smoothly.

What will you mainly be responsible for delivering?

  • Responsible for producing Production focussed documents (Standard Operating Procedures and Site Manuals) that meet both Operational and Regulatory requirements.
  • Work with the local Production Teams to gather key business info, review and validate to produce new documents.
  • Research industry best practice to identify new and improved ways of working for the frontline teams.
  • Responsible for conducting site visits and liaising with other key stakeholders to obtain the required information to produce new policies, procedures, and site manuals.
  • Responsible for creating training and briefing materials to ensure front line teams understand the new or updated procedures.
  • Provide regular updates to the Operational Improvements Manager, feeding into the monthly project performance report.

What you bring to the role

  • Previous experience within the water industry is essential.
  • Extensive knowledge of water treatment processes and Water Quality regulations is essential.
  • Well organised and methodical
  • Motivated by solving problems.
  • Selfmotivated with the ability to priorities workload and meet tight deadlines.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills are essential.
