Principal of Bridge College

Hours:37.5 hours, Permanent over 52 weeks

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Principal at Bridge College.


Bridge College is an independent specialist college for young people up to the age of 25 years with complex learning and/or physical disabilities or an autism spectrum condition.

Bridge College is part of the Together Trust, a charity providing care and education for over 140 years.


We are looking for someone to lead change, manage and continue the development at Bridge College, inspire and encourage its students to achieve their best outcomes.


Bridge College aims to be the centre of expertise in the region and therefore a major element of the Principal's role will be to build effective partnerships with and other Further Education and Independent Specialist Colleges in the region.


About the role:

Provide inspiring, motivational leadership within Bridge College and the sector.


Advise on the educational character, mission and strategic priorities based on national, regional and local developments to enable the Governing Body and Together Trust to take informed decisions about the future development of Bridge College.


Secure high standards of teaching and learning and outcomes for students and provide timely, considered, quality information and analysis of Bridge College performance.


Lead on Bridge College self-assessment and improvement planning involving students, staff, governors and other stakeholders seeking their views and ensuring these are considered in strategic and operation.


Ensure that safeguarding is promoted throughout Bridge College and is embedded in all aspects of the College's operation ensuring that all relevant national and local requirements are met.

Ensure that Equality and Diversity are promoted and embedded in all aspects of Bridge College's operation.


Sustain and develop Bridge College as an inclusive, student-centred organisation, and an effective learning environment where the 'learner voice' is heard and valued.


Secure the financial viability of Bridge College by admitting sufficient students, securing appropriate funding, liaising with young people parents, LAs and the relevant funding agency.


Working with the Together Trust Director of Resources and Finance Team, develop and manage the budget for Bridge College ensuring that it achieves agreed income and expenditure targets and meets funders' requirements.

Lead the staff team, securing their effective recruitment, deployment, supervision, professional development and performance management.

Ensure that Bridge College meets all relevant legislative requirements, including safeguarding and health and safety.
