Description

We are seeking to recruit a keen and enthusiastic Consultant Psychiatrist for Intensive Home Treatment Team to work within a multi-disciplinary team based at the Airedale Centre for Mental Health.


You will work with colleagues to provide a service which is managed in conjunction with the Community and Inpatient Mental Health services to provide an alternative to hospital admission or an option for early discharge from the wards.


You will provide consultant responsibility to all patients referred, for their mental health needs aged 18 or over (without an upper age limit), by colleagues in the First Response Service, Community Mental Health Team (CMHT), on discharge from acute inpatient wards or following a Mental Health Act Assessment.

Patients under IHTT caseload may receive, on a case-by-case basis, medical input from CMHT medics if patients are open to Working Age Adult CMHT or Older People's CMHT.


You should have a higher qualification in psychiatry (Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists or equivalent) and be included on or be eligible for inclusion on the GMC's Specialist Register.

Specialty Registrars who are within 6 months of attainment of CCST at the time of interview are eligible to apply.

You will need to be both S12 approved at the time of the interview, s/he must be fully eligible for approval.

Assessment of new referrals and attending their formulation meetings.

Medical review of patients as agreed in multi-disciplinary meetings.

Attending daily huddle meetings

Home visits when required.

Attending multidisciplinary case review meetings whenever they are arranged.

Attending weekly team meeting/leadership meetings.


Attending management and academic meetings:


  • Once a month
  • Medical Council.
Once a month

  • Community Consultants Meeting
Once in 3 months - Peer Group Meeting.

Once a month - Team Quality & Safety Meeting.

Advice to GP's/Liaison Teams/Hospitals (occasional hospital attendance may be required).

Preparing reports and attending mental health tribunals for patients on Community Treatment Orders.

To undertake the administrative duties associated with the care of patients.

To maintain professional registration with the General Medical Council, Mental Health Act Section 12(2) approval AC status, and to abide by professional codes of conduct.

To participate annually in a job plan review.
