  • Job description
  • The Water, Land & Biodiversity (WLB) Asset Management programme aims to improve the way WLB assets are managed by implementing a system that provides the framework and processes for a whole lifecycle approach. Ensuring assets are safe, effective, resilient and that our future investment requirements are fully understood.
You will be reporting to the Team Leader of the WLB Asset team in Yorkshire
Knowing the condition of our assets underpins our risk based approached to asset management. The information is used to help us plan our work and target our resources.

You will be collating information on WLB assets outside on the ground and carrying out a programme of visual inspection of the assets to determine their condition, identifying issues, and liaising with colleagues to correct defects.

You will also be desk-based processing the asset information in the asset management database.

This role will include:

  • Inspecting a range of WLB assets across Yorkshire.
  • Assessing the condition of these assets and the recording of these assessments on to

AIMS:
OM asset management database.

  • Assisting WLB Area and national asset management staff where required.
  • Delivering Public Safety Risk inspections on asset sites
  • Supporting the Asset Management team and local teams on site with contractors
Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do.

You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident.

This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.


  • The team
  • Reporting to the WLB Asset Team Leader, your workload will largely be guided by the Area WLB Asset Management Officer and Technical Lead. You will also work with Hydrometry & Telemetry Officers in matters relating to asset management. You will be required to support National and Area asset management teams.

  • Experience/skills required
  • Experience in asset management, direct involvement in projects or in the delivery of asset maintenance work is an advantage but not essential. The ability to manage a varied workload is essential. Previous exposure to engineering projects is desirable.

  • Undertaking independent fieldwork and extensive vocational driving
You must be able to swim and be confident around water.

There will be occasional national travel and you will be required to travel to sites within Area therefore a full UK driving license is required.
