- Subspecialty interest in thoracic imaging, to participate in all aspects of thoracic imaging, Lung cancer health check service, plain film imaging, imaging guided lung/pleural biopsies, interstitial lung disease, MDTs and meetings.
- General work:
- Acute in-patient cross- sectional imaging
- On-call service. Currently 1:16
- Supported by local Trainees until 2200hrs
- Outsourced CT 8-10 hours
- Weekend on call working is in and working for between 8-10hrs, compensated with time in lieu (time and a half). This can be taken within three months of the on-call date.
- Share with colleagues in the training, supervision, and support of radiographers and ultrasonographers, including skill mix training.
- Provide training for the Portsmouth Radiology Training Scheme Specialty Trainees and other Southampton based rotating Wessex SPRs/
- The job comprises 8 direct clinical care (DCC) and 2 supporting programme activities (SPA). One of the SPA sessions can be taken off site. We are happy to support flexible working ( compressed job plan, four day working, reporting from home (home workstations are provided etc.). Extra DCC PAs may be available following consultation with the Clinical Director, depending on departmental and personal requirements. Regular reviews of job plan will be undertaken.

- Able to demonstrate appropriate level of clinical knowledge
- Knowledge and use of evidence based practice
- IT skills
- Effective, confident presentation ability
- Experience in and outside speciality
- Full GMC Registration with a license to practice
- Entry on the GMC specialist register via CCT (proposed date must be within 6 months), CESR or European Community Rights
- Fellowship of Royal College of Radiologists or equivalent
- Management course or experience
- Fellowship level training in thoracic imaging
- BSTI Nodule analysis course
- Adult cardiac/coronary CT
- Demonstrable, significant and ongoing experience in thoracic radiology with evidence of subspecialist training, including competence in a broad range of ultrasound CT, imaging guided biopsies, MDT experience and plain film interpretation.
- General Diagnostic Radiology skills to support local requirements for acute general radiology service weekday time and on call/in and working at weekend.
- Understanding of clinical risk management
- Subspecialty experience in thoracic imaging
- Fellowship level training in thoracic imaging
- Training and experience in teaching of medical, radiographic and nursing staff
- Professional skills of high standard in Clinical Radiology
- Demonstrable basic management skills

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated colleague to join our team of 44 consultants, as a Consultant Radiologist with an interest in thoracic imaging. This new post reflects an increasing cancer imaging workload, demand for imaging guided biopsies, ILD service and to support the expansion of the Targeted Lung Health Check service. The successful applicant will be expected to participate in the TLHC reporting. We are a dynamic and innovative department. and the applicant will be expected to provide acute and sub speciality imaging. Portsmouth is host to the Portsmouth training scheme, providing training to 20 specialist registrars.
