Associate Scientist (Downstream) - Biologics - Kent

Are you ready for your next scientific challenge? Would you like to contribute to the success of a Company by taking a Scientific lead in tasks and projects in Downstream Process Development?


This global comany is looking for an experienced Associate Scientist, with expert technical knowledge to join their R&D Downstream Team in Kent.


As an Associate Scientist you will contribute your expertise to independently formulating hypotheses, whilst defining and implementing an overall scientific/technical strategy to meet objectives.

You will collaboratively engage with colleagues in a smallteam of Scientists and Technicians for rapid and efficient project progress, delivering an exceptional quality of data and scientific support to our customers.


What they are looking for:
Skills and experience in the following areas will be required:

  • Preparation of solutions, accurate pipetting and basic measurements such as pH.
  • Protein purification techniques (cell lysis, primary extraction/recovery of proteins, chromatography using ÄKTA or similar systems with different functional separation chemistries, ultrafiltration and diafiltration, freezedrying).
  • Basic analytical techniques (protein concentration, SDS-PAGE, functional activity/titre assays).
  • Use of Microsoft Excel for the analysis, manipulation and presentation of data.


A BSc level in Bioscience/Biochemistry with some relevant work experience of Downstream process development in a bioscience-based company, preferably within a CDMO business environment, is required for this role.
