Chappell Enterprises UK are recruiting for a
Head of Human Resources to work with our client based in
Southend-on-Sea.
Our client has been providing services aiming to end homelessness in Southend-on-sea for twenty years. This year they are aiming to expand their cold weather provision to include more emergency beds for rough sleepers.

Main purpose of the job:


  • To deal with HR issues arising with staff
  • To process payroll ready for outsourced payroll provider

Main Responsibilities

  • To manage HR function within Company
  • To support Chief Executive and Directors in strategic planning for HR matters
  • To deal with HR issues arising including disciplinary hearings; hearing grievances etc
  • To oversee recruitment and interview process
  • To be responsible for the drafting, communication and regular review of human resources policies and procedures, including the Staff Handbook.
  • To ensure that formal job offer letters, contracts, contract addendums and job specifications are produced/signed.
  • To manage the payroll process for 100 + staff, liaising as appropriate with external bureau and ensuring that all relevant information regarding starters and leavers, changes in pay rates, overtime and sessional hours are communicated promptly to the payrollprovider.
  • To administer staff loans and repayments
  • To monitor new staff on probation and process probation paperwork
  • Manage annual staff increases and communications
  • Maintain staff information as required on IRIS database
  • To liaise with external pension advisors and death is service scheme providers.
  • To perform staff exit interviews and circulate the outcome to the Chief Executive and to the responsible member of the Executive Team.
  • To carry out market reviews from time to time of salary levels, ensuring our client remains competitive in its remuneration policy with local employers against whom the Charity has to compete for its staffing.
  • Update the staff organisation charts for leavers, starters and reorganisations
  • Coordinate equipment with leavers and starters in conjunction with IT department.

  • Develop and maintain good professional working relationships with all agencies working in partnership with Our client that are associated with this role.

  • Ensure all data associated with this role is kept according to GDPR and Data Protection policies in line with national legislation.

  • Treat personal, private or sensitive information about individuals, organisations and/or clients or staff with confidentiality.

Budget

  • Ensure all expenditure incurred, associated with this role, is within HARP budgets and that costs are incurred in line with authorisation limits set out in the Finance Policy.

Must haves:


  • CIPD qualified.
  • Educated to GCSC standard with five or more grade C and above including English and Maths (or equivalent)
  • Experience of managing HR department for 100 + employees.
  • Experience of payroll working.
  • Experience of working autonomously in a payroll department.
  • Experience of sensitively dealing with HR issues.
  • Experience of working with IRIS HR professional Desirable Aptitude
  • Strong administrative skills including attention to detail and accuracy
  • Intermediate Office Word and Excel level minimum.

  • Ability to multitask and work within deadlines

  • Willingness to undertake any further training that may be seen as necessary.

Salary:

£43,500 rising to £48,600 (increments)
