We currently have a fantastic opportunity available for a Waste Water Quality Technician to join our regional team based in Plymouth . You will join us on a full-time, permanent basis, and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £23,150 plus salary uplift following a successful 12 month assessment and excellent benefits. This position although based in Plymouth will be working in Devon and Cornwall. Job Purpose: As the Waste Water Quality Technician you will undertake various Waste Water sampling activities and on site analysis to meet the company's Operator Self-Monitoring (OSM) UV disinfection and Urban Waste Water Treatment Regulation (UWWTR) regulatory requirements. You will also assist the Waste Water Scientific team, as required, with trade effluent discharge monitoring.

    What you'll be doing:

  • Undertake various sampling duties within the Environmental Performance Team primarily for regulatory monitoring in accordance with OSM , UV and UWWTR Regulatory requirements
  • Adhere to all documentation contained within the Quality Management Systems for OSM, UV and UWWTR sampling. This relates to; the collection and transportation of samples, record keeping, notification processes, temperature monitoring and all other required working practice
  • Comply with the Company's Health, Safety & Security policies, adhering to any relevant risk assessments, task safety instructions and training
  • To provide support to the Waste Water Scientific Team by collecting Trade Effluent discharge samples
  • Maintain a high standard of customer service when dealing with the general public and external organisations to uphold the company image
  • Provide sampling support during events and incidents as required
  • Be prepared to be flexible in order to cover sampling activities across the whole region
  • To participate in weekend working on a 6 week rota
  • What we are looking for:

  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • 5 GCSEs or equivalent including Maths, English and a Science subject at grade C or above
  • Previous experience in managing workload to deadlines
  • A good geographical knowledge of South West
  • Ability to follow procedures to the exacting standards demanded by the Regulator and business
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to keep accurate records
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office and confident when using computers and learning new systems
  • To participate in studying for NVQ equivalent qualification in Monitoring the Water Environment
  • Ability to work alone whilst keeping team members informed with a flexible approach to working hours, areas covered and be able to work some weekends
  • Logical approach to tasks and the confidence to use initiative when circumstances dictate
  • Capable of clear and concise communication, both verbal and written and excellent customer service skills with the ability to act with tact and diplomacy towards others
