The Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team have joined forces with INEOS Britannia preparation for the 37th America's Cup in 2024. This project brings together two highly complementary spheres of high-performance, high-technology engineering and sporting challenge. Since August 2019, team members from our Applied Science division have been dedicated to projects with INEOS Britannia, helping to deliver and accelerate performance for what's often referred to as 'Formula One on water'.

To be a part of our Team, it does not matter whether you already have an interest motorsport, yacht's or racing in general, we would like to hear from you. We are looking for people who are passionate about reaching their full potential and are excited about constantly learning. We are highly focused on equal opportunities and pride ourselves on our strong, inclusive values and culture.

    About the Role:

We're seeking a Software Engineer to join our growing agile software development group in the Applied Science department. You'll work in a self-directing project team, with other developers, to deliver projects that continuously improve our insights of performance in various domains.

You'll deliver on key projects to continuously develop more comprehensive insights, driving performance within its operating environment. Partnering with key areas of the business, you'll enhance existing tools and systems, deliver exciting new projects, and manage internal customer experience. Examples include data & real-time infrastructure, data capture, data analysis, workflow automation and simulation development.

We want to be the best in everything that we do from racing to software development, and are looking to revolutionise our working practices, from concept to deployment. We're creating the next generation of software infrastructure that will be the foundation of our success for years to come.

We're looking for someone who has proven experience, working in a software team, who has delivered flexible, scalable, and maintainable solutions to complex problems. It's vital that you can work with key stakeholders, maintaining a strong customer focus. It's an exciting time to join our team to make a tangible impact on our development and race performance.

As our Software Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

    • Being a point of contact for new software requirements and internal stakeholder management.
    • Enhancing existing systems, ensuring sustainable solutions, whilst building the functionality of the future.
    • Streamlining our software engineering projects and processes with the team, ensuring seamless customer experiences and advocating best practices.
    • Promoting modern software engineering practices – DevOps, configuration-as-code, test driven development, micro-service architectures, etc.
    • Supporting race and testing events, ensuring the team can access the right information at the right time to enhance our strategic decision making.

To be successful you will have:

    • Degree in Computer Science (or similar), or relevant experience.
    • Experience working in high performing self-organising teams, delivering solutions to complex problems.
    • Understanding of agile development methodologies and the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
    • Experience delivering software within a DevOps culture.
    • Knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP)
    • Professional experience in Python development
    • Experience with any of the following languages / frameworks would be considered an advantage: Docker, Angular, Kafka, C++, C#
    • Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.

    Benefits:

Our riverside campus is powered by 100% renewably sourced energy and features an on-site gym and exercise studio, subsidised restaurant and on-site parking with EV chargers available.

We offer a competitive and attractive package of benefits including a generous bonus scheme, Mercedes car lease scheme, private medical cover, life assurance and 25 days holiday. We pride ourselves on our family-friendly environment, employee well-being programme and offer flexible working opportunities.

    Why us:

At the heart of our performance are our people. Every member of our team has a voice and plays their part in contributing to our successes on and off the racetrack. We take pride in creating an innovative, collaborative and high-performance culture where all of our team members are respected, empowered and valued.

Through our Accelerate 25 programme, we are continuously working to make our team even more diverse and inclusive. Whatever your background, we believe that you will find working with us rewarding and enriching.
