    FSL Underwriter, Associate
    London

    The Fixed Income Division (FID) is comprised of Interest Rate and Currency Products, Credit Products, Securitized Products, and Municipal Securities.

    Professionals in the Division assess and actively manage risk, trade securities, and structure as well as execute innovative transactions in the fast-paced and constantly changing global markets.

    Morgan Stanley's Deleveraging and Lending Group (DLG) focuses on traditional Commercial Real Estate as well as Warehouse lending for mortgage and consumer loan pools, and other asset backed financing within the Securitized Products Group (SPG).

    This is an expanding business within Fixed Income being recognized for providing traditional and innovative financing techniques, helping a wide range of clients throughout Europe to execute their business strategy.


    We are currently seeking interested Associate level candidates to join our DLG team based in London.

    Successful candidates will be expected to underwrite loans working closely with clients and senior members of the team in London.

    What will you be doing?

    The successful addition to the Deleveraging and Lending Group will have a wide range of responsibilities and will be expected to manage, and be involved in, the full process of sourcing, underwriting and executing financing transactions backed by portfolios of mortgage and real estate assets.


    Duties will include and not be limited to:

    • Underwriting and structuring the financing of performing and non-performing mortgage and residential real estate portfolios.
    • Establishing and maintaining appropriately targeted client relationships and differentiating Morgan Stanley through proprietary content over time.
    • Review of transaction documentation with legal counsel and negotiation of commercial terms.
    • Ensuring efficient interaction and close collaboration with key stakeholders across the firm and globally
    • Liaising with various internal functions to facilitate internal approval of transactions, including credit committee presentations
    Skills that will help you in the role:


    • Strong academic background coupled with minimum 3 years of professional experience and track record of success in real estate, securitized products or financial institutions.
    • Experience with private equity and hedge fund clients
    • Strong understanding of the ABS market and experience in real estate lending, structured finance or investment banking
    • Strong analytical and modelling skills - proficiency in MS Excel and Intex
    • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
    • Ability to effectively prioritise and handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
    • Self-motivated, goal-oriented; team player with add value ethos

    Certified Persons Regulatory Requirements:

    This role is deemed as a Certified role and may require the role holder to hold mandatory regulatory qualifications or the minimum qualifications to meet internal company benchmarks.
