    We are currently looking for a talented, personable Intern to work with as a Technical Writer. The ideal candidate is someone who takes pride in their work, fosters relationships, understands technical terms to a degree and can take input from various resources on the team to convert it into sophisticated technical guides for both internal (technical) and external (end user) audiences.

    In collaboration with team members Technical Writers are required to gather, analyze, and organize new and existing product information to author documents for new or changing product functionality. Technical writers will also identify necessary revisions to existing documents, write technical topics to bridge gaps in information, and implement those changes. Technical writers must be comfortable interacting with colleagues in software development, program and project management, and other technical roles in an Agile development environment.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    Key activities may include:

  • Producing high-quality, clear, accurate, and complete documentation within established processes, standards; these documents could include Product Information Guides, User Guides, Installation Guides, Configuration Guides, Administration Guides, Release Bulletins, etc.
  • Contributing to policy and procedures documents
  • Collaborating with internal team members to obtain a comprehensive understanding of the product and documentation requirements
  • Reading, analyzing, and clarifying Information Engineering source documents to identify areas for improvement
  • Participating in daily stand-up meetings
  • Identifying and creating appropriate graphics to complement technical topics
  • The NCR Technical Writer New Grad will have the following qualifications:

  • University degree (BA or MA) or College Diploma in a Humanities or Social Science program; Students from a Technical Writing, Rhetoric, or English program preferred
  • Excellent school performance
  • Excellent knowledge of content/help authoring tools, such as Adobe FrameMaker, MadCap Flare and Adobe Acrobat would be a bonus.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint)
  • Experience writing using a corporate style guide and adhering to documentation processes, standards, and best practices would be advantageous
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Comprehensive understanding of English grammar and syntax
  • Experience writing in a structured authoring environment creating single-source content
  • Excellent at reviewing documentation written by other writers to ensure clarity, completeness, accuracy, and overall quality standards
  • Knowledge of accepted standards for technical communication
  • Experience creating documentation for web, mobile, and backend applications
  • Great analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated initiative and leadership
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Diverse interests, a passion for technology, and an enthusiasm to learn new things
  • Ability to meet target deadlines and project commitments
