    Job Description

    Member of a team responsible for inspection, maintenance and improvement of public car parks and improvement works to public road including active travel infrastructure; Raise Works Orders for safety defects; Assist Traffic Engineers; Check Contractors comply with Streetworks Regulations and other codes of practice; Investigate Complaints; Assist with Traffic Surveys; Assist with Roads Construction Consent inspections and compliance checks and carry out Asset Collection & Condition Recording for Public Car Parks, traffic signs and road markings.

    Requirements

    Undertake Inspections of Works to Council Assets including Carriageways, Cycle Paths, Road Signs and Road Markings, and Public Car Parks.

    Support and assist Traffic Engineers with the preparation of works programmes and enquiries.

    Inspect the works of contractors and ensure compliance with approved codes of practice.

    Assist with the undertaking of Traffic Surveys.

    Investigate and respond to Queries and Complaints.

    Participate in the on-site Road Construction Consents process.

    Asset Collection and Condition Assessments.

    The Individual

    Experienced in Road Construction and knowledge of inspection regimes.

    A practical knowledge of road construction related issues and solutions.

    Good knowledge of English and basic Maths Streetworks Accredidation.

    A working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Internet Explorer and Excel.

    Good oral and written communication skills.

    Communicate effectively to enable inspection data to be clearly interpreted.

    Self-confident and self-motivated.

    Ability to prioritise tasks.

    Ability to work, on own initiative, to a strict timetable to meet deadlines.

    Ability to quantify and take on-site measurements through a range of survey techniques for minor roads related works.

    Ability to interpret maps, drawings & specifications.

    Maintain training / accreditation as required by management.

    You will be expected to travel efficiently and effectively between various locations within and beyond Moray. Due to the rural nature of Moray this is normally undertaken by use of a car/van.

    Ability to communicate successfully with a wide range of contacts.

    Ability to develop positive working relationships and contribute as part of a team. Willingness to accept direction/delegation.

    Professional approach in all areas.

    Manual and physical dexterity for working out of doors.

    Ability to work flexibly to meet the needs and demands of the service.

    Ability to work in a shared office and in different offices depending on the needs of the service.

    £15.46 per hour

    Starting Salary: £29,142.10 per annum

    36.25 hours per week
