- Oversee and coordinate all activities related to the development and execution of eMachine 1D thermal models, eMachine thermal performance and eMachine thermal management.
- Run eMachine 1D Thermal CAE analysis, summarise results and feedback conclusions to the relevant stakeholders in an efficient manner.
- Perform correlation studies between predicted and measured eMachine temperatures.
- Support the development of test procedures and internal Standards relating to the thermal aspects of eMachine assemblies and subcomponents.
- Support and present at design reviews with key stakeholders: COC component design teams, system design teams.
- Work with the Subject Matter Experts (SME's) to ensure project documentation for each project is managed and maintained.
- Support Validation Engineers in the functional and durability testing pertaining to eMachines.
- Working knowledge and experience of 1D thermal CAE methodologies
- Previous experience and background in solving complex technical ideas and challenges.
- Previous experience of thermal performance development at a component or system level development using CAE to meet defined performance targets.
- Previous experience of delivering engineering or analytical projects
- Competent in the use of MATLAB/Simulink Macro Programming Excel
- Experience in proposing product modifications to improve design.

WHAT TO EXPECT
The eMachine Lead Thermal CAE engineer is responsible for providing guidance and expertise on all aspects of thermal design and analysis of eMachine assemblies, ensuring all functional targets are met for serial production. They will liaise with the eMachine electromagnetic team, the EDU CFD team and the EDU system teams to develop, build and execute thermal models of the eMachine, resolving technical issues that arise during development, to achieve peak and continuous performance across a range of specific drive cycles and perform Lifetime assessments relating to the thermal aspects of the eMachine.
You will take a direct role in the creation and application of appropriate Standards and Requirements and will play a key role in overseeing Requirements sign-off activities for thermal aspects of the eMachine rotor and stator assemblies. The eMachine Lead Thermal CAE Engineer reports to the eMachine Commodity Manager.
