Job purpose:

To operate within the stores department at the discretion of the Warehouse Supervisor, covering all aspects of stores and stock control activities as required, to adequately manage the department workload.


Key Responsibilities:
(Key Tasks)


  • To carry out when required to do so, perpetual inventory checking to the daily check list and advise of any changes to the warehouse supervisor.
  • Put all stock away in their predetermined location within the stores department.
  • To work on despatch handling, packing and shipment.
  • To kit works orders as necessary
  • To flag any shortages to the kit list.
  • To check shop floor returns are good to go back in to stock.
  • To unload vehicles as necessary and check goods in.
  • To undertake offsite driving work, delivering and collecting parts.
  • Complete all necessary documentation according to the company's requirements, (including timesheets, NCR's, goods inward and despatch records)
  • To ensure housekeeping is maintained to a high standard at all times.
  • Carry out all tasks in line with Health & Safety regulations.
  • Provide and implement suggestions for improvements for stores layouts and activities.
  • Carry out any other reasonable request made by the department lead hands or the company to smooth peaks and troughs within the department, including any exceptional stock check need.

Accountabilities:
(Deliverables)


  • Put all stock away either as advised from the goods inward clerk bookings or quality control acceptance or returns from the shop floor, all stock should be physically located within 24 hours of receipt (excluding weekends).
  • To keep production teams running by kitting out the works orders as necessary.
  • Resupply any shortages to the kit list to shop floor when they are received.
  • Complete necessary paperwork and physically put back to stock location observing the FIFO operating practices.
  • Maintain and store goods inward documentation for fulfilment of goods inward booking in duties.
  • Prepare goods for shipment to ensure no transit damage or delay in delivery.
  • Use good working practices to operate within the company policies and procedures & ensure good housekeeping at all time.

Education/Qualifications:


  • Secondary school qualifications in Maths and English preferred.
  • NVQ or similar in a stores discipline would be advantageous.

Key Skills (essential):


  • Good team player.
  • Must be agile with manual dexterity (may be required to work in small spaces).
  • Good numeracy skills and accuracy to detail.
  • Forklift licence and full clean driving licence.
  • Ability to understand drawings in line with basic quality control decisions.
  • Good communication skills and proactive.
  • Ability to work under pressure.

Experience (essential):


  • Stores experience preferably within a fast moving production environment.

QHSE Competencies:


  • Maintain behaviour in compliance with FET HSE requirements.
  • Maintain responsibility and accountability through personal commitment and behaviour.
  • Report any unsafe or environmentally unsound acts and conditions to their immediate Supervisor such that remedial action can be taken to manage the risk.
